Nasty Brew Store Houston, TX Area

I fear no attacks. I don't much care what someone thinks. I do care to ensure all know what they may be buying. I have talked to the owner before, as stated. He does not care. Maybe he posts here, who knows. He was rude and not helpful. I am not the only one with the same experiences...

Nasty Brew Store Houston, TX Area

If you live in Houston, Do not go to B&S Brewers Guild on Nasa rd 1, in Seabrook. I have tried several times to buy grains there...and several times, weevils. Usually, I won't buy. This time, I didn't notice anything immediately...so I purchased some grain. Sadly, I purchased some grain...

Danger of Bottling During Daylight Hours?

or if you're really freaky, wrap a blanket around the bucket (lay a lid on so you don't get crap in the beer), bottle, cap, drink in a few weeks. Seems very unlikely it would happen that fast...plus, just move out of the direct sun/blanket if you're really that worried.

Future Kegerator Beer Fish Tank Project

CO2 can be in or out, no matter. a 5 lb tank lasts me between 5 and 7 5-gallon kegs to carb and serve. I'd guess 2-3 times that if already carbed and just serving already carbonated beer. a 5 gallon keg (typical corny keg) is about 50 12 oz servings..will last a very long time if you properly...

    South Texas Hop Garden

excellent. We have some land out that way, so good to know they may survive if I keep them watered.

Attempting 40%+ ABV beer... "Barley Brandy"

Dry ice will last 30+ hrs in a decent igloo cooler with insulated top, exterior temps and dry ice size depending. I've seen some last longer, some less. Figure Omaha steaks (and others) ship frozen steaks cross country in the middle of the summer...and it isn't always shipped overnight. You'd...

    Reasonable Recipe?

Thanks for the input! I will adjust accordingly and definitely move the spice time down to the very end.. Probably nix the coriander- Just go with the grapefruit and SoP and drop the amts. I planned to use 05 yeast for the quick and clean ferment

Diabetic friendly beer trials and AE disscusion.

Alcohol isn't the problem for a diabetic, it is the quickly metabolized sugar as indicated. That's why they can eat fibrous carbs (fruit, some whole grain bread, veggies) I know many diabetics who suffer no ill effects from drinking too much red wine. White wine though, bad bad bad. I will...

    DIY carboy hauler/pics

Don't waste time making all those silly devices. Go to your grocery store and get one of those dumb reusable grocery bags they have. They will fit a carboy (most). I had a bigger insulated one that I used for my bigger carboy and it has worked out perfectly. Many have the straps sewn all the...

    Sanke spear seal

Ok. I've got the spear apart for a miller/firestone keg (old sucker, straight sided...old.) Need the seal that goes INSIDE the spear not the o-ring, but the other one that goes against the "button" Searched a bit on HBT, but wrong keywords I guess I can't find this bugger anywhere...

    Sanke spear (and others questions)

Oh, well then, I'll just pick up some new O rings and call it swell! BLC to clean up the old mess and I'm in business Thanks much! (my first sanke keg...can ya tell?)

    Sanke spear (and others questions)

You are the man! It looked fairly simple, but couldn't find the "how to" after searching a while yesterday. Now to find those seals. The kegs I have are probably 30 years old, but still great shape! Wife was worried that I would put something in there to consume. Heck yea I will!!
