to stir or not to stir

I don't need anything to compare it to. I am comparing sweet to unsweet. My beer brewing inexperience has no impact whatsoever on my taste buds. Sweet is sweet, unsweet is not. If there are varying degrees of sweetness in the beer taken at different times, then that means there are varying...

to stir or not to stir

Unless the racking is violently fast enough to create a vortex of a whirlpool, then YES I now believe stirring is 100% essential. I just bottled my first ever brew, and now I am waiting for disappointment. I will surely have some flat beer, some bottle bombs, and HOPEFULLY some accpeptable...

~1gal 2ndary with fresh GUAVA? Advice plz

Thanks for feedback. I have the guava sliced up and in the freezer. There are only 7 small guavas to total 1.36 lb. I was planning to pasteurize, so I didn't clean the previously-used cutting board and knife before slicing. I only have 5 & 1 gallon containers for now. That might suffice for...

What would be the style of this beer?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I saw that this post has not yet received any replies in the 50 minutes it has been up, so here I am. Was that a total of 4oz Saaz? Or 1/4oz at each addition? How did you process the blueberries and how many?

~1gal 2ndary with fresh GUAVA? Advice plz

Getting ready to bottle my FIRST ever brew... NB's Petite Saison d'Ete extract kit. 12 days primary, 8 days secondary(so far). Used WLP568 yeast at 75-78 room temp. What I want to do is bottle most of it as-is this weekend, but save about a gallon of it to experiment with by adding fresh...

I did it ALL wrong, for science!

Now, 3 weeks later, for a total of 5 weeks in the bottle, how does it taste?

First time, no sanitizer, pee'd on it...

I just find it incredible that a 5-year-old thread, started by an obvious spammer, is still active!

First brew session w/pics..& with a question

Hey poislb... I see in your pics there is adhesive on your floor that used to hold down tiles of some sort. Do you know how old those tiles were? I ask because if it is from the 70's or earlier, there is a good chance the dark-colored adhesive could have ASBESTOS in it. Not a good thing...

    Key West Southernmost Wheat clone

Ugh! Gross, I just found your post when I was looking for the review section to give this beer a negative review. I think it is the key lime juice they ferment it with that gives it a kind of nasty flavor. Citrus juices in general I think are just not that great for fermenting, creating...

    Hello from Baghdad

Remember to pay attention to fermenting temperatures. If it's going to be warm over there with no way to cool down the wort while fermenting, then you might want to make sure you use a yeast strain that is heat-tolerant. Oh wait, nevermind, just reread your post and see that you will be...
