Yeah, without water in it, air could move in any direction.....out of the fermentor, or in, carrying beer spoiling things.
I started with a three peice airlock, but found a two peice is much nicer.
I recently brewed a light honey ale..... while boiling in the pot, it was honey colored......after it cooled, and in the primary, its cider colored and about as hazy.......what gives?

I'm looking for something like Blue Moon, something like and refreshing.
I'll use what I've got for now, and try the liquid yeast on my next batch.
I am making one gallon batches because I don't currently have the room to put 5 gallon buckets anywhere.....I already have five sitting...
Hello all - I am planning on a wheat ale for my next batch...... I can't find a dry yeast that is wheat specific.... would the Nottingham, or SafAle S33 yeasts work? I just happen to have the two in the fridge already.
I could use the wheat specific yeast in the liquid packs, but I'm only...

Well the beer was...
I found a very easy wheat recipe......but does anyone make a dry wheat yeast? I don't have much use for the liquid kits....too much yeast I am assuming...

Well I moved the batch today into the secondary......I tasted it AFTER I added the sugar to it.....it was very sweet, but the overal taste was pretty decent...not nearly as bitter as I expected it to be.
I know the yeast will take care of a lot of the sugar.....should be interesting to see...
Hello all - I am looking to brew some wheat beer......but I can't really use liquid extracts right now - I only have a one gallon primary.....so I am sticking to dry malt extracts.....
Anyone have an easy recipe I can scale down? What about yeast? Is there a dry yeast specifically for...
Right now I am only doing 1 gallon batches....I don't have the room for more five gallon buckets (already have five or six around for my reef tank), or room for the bottles......
But I'm moving in a few months to an actual house....so I'll start brewing real batches then.
