S.G. 1013 for two days but....

Thank you for the quick reply. It is a standard Ale, about the only thing I can brew here on the island due to temperatures. I guess if it sits for another day or two it won't hurt it. Mark

S.G. 1013 for two days but....

My original S.G. 1.057, 5# DME and 1# raw cane sugar. 7 days S.G. 1.013 8 days S.G. 1.013 but sample a bit fizzy, no airlock activity observed, but sample left to sit an air out and S.G. remains 1.013. My question is do I go ahead and bottle or is it still fermenting as observed by the...

"Optimal" yeast temp up to 86 degrees?

I am very interested in your results as i am brewing here on a Caribbean island and cannot feasibly control fermenting temperatures as energy costs a lot here. Looking this up on the web it seems that this very yeast is what Coopers includes in some of their "kits" and I have ordered some of...

    Low alchohol, yet flavourful beers?

No, the measurements are correct. As I said the fermentation stalled. I did not end up with anything other than 1.044 initial and 1.043 as final. I don't think my hydrometer has lied to me before so I trust it this time and yes these are temperature corrected. I did expect a higher SG intially...

    Low alchohol, yet flavourful beers?

Yes! I once made the mistake of using 3# DME with 3/4 cup corn sugar and 3/4 cup of raw honey and then after boiling and cooling tossed the Wyeast London ESB porpogator stright into the wort without the propogating part! It was a wonderfull tasting, slightly nutty after tasting beer! Will do...

    Caribbean Island Brewing Temps

Most all if not all of the temp controls listed here and abroad involve some electrical energy at one point or another. since i have solar my refirgeration is limited as well as no airconditioning. I looked for a higher temp yeast strain in dry form but will look again for the Belgian you...

    Low alchohol, yet flavourful beers?

Ha! My problem is gaining higher abv%. A begginers recipie calls for 6# DME, you can also add 1/2# sugar but the fact is that my temps remain so high here (82F and up to 85F) that the fermentation is rapid and short. I end up with a full flavor beer but low abv% since all the sugars are not used...

    Caribbean Island Brewing Temps

Forgot to mention that his last batch although sg didnt change much it had a vigerous three day activity and still good signs of activity to the 8 day mark but not much drop in sg! Swirled a bit and activity commenced again then dropped again.....

    Caribbean Island Brewing Temps

Hi Gang! Lots of good information here but I wanted to see if there is someone else out there with the same problem. Our average temp here is 83F, it varies some about 3 deg the entire year but at times will drop to 76F during the winter but this is just for a few days. most times it stays 80F...
