    3V eBrewing Plumbing Advice

Did you end up setting this up? I’m thinking of buying the Ss BrewTech Valve Tree to make a similar setup for our Spike Trio 3 vessel HERMs system. I’m working on the plumbing flow now before I buy on the Black Friday pricing.

    Seltzer Questions....

I would. I looked at Amoretti, but they all seem fake. I didn't find much that was pure, unadulterated fruit. My can of Oregon Fruit Purees Tart Cherry Puree says, "Ingredients: Red Tart Cherries". My can of Vintner's Harvest Peach Puree says, "Ingredients: Peaches, citric acid, ascorbic acid"...

    Seltzer Questions....

We just kegged a Berliner Wiesse on Sunday and split the 10 gal. batch to 2 kegs. One got a can of tart cherry puree and the other got a can of peach puree. We added potassium sorbate as well to prevent secondary fermentation. The Berliner was cold crashed for about 3 weeks and then I got lazy...

    Seltzer Questions....

I'm curious about more details if they'll share. I'd be curious how many volumes of CO2 they use for carbonation. I'm also curious about the fruit puree and when they add it. Do they allow it to settle out and rack off of it? I've tried my hand at 3 separate batches of seltzer so far. The first...

Any Lallemand Philly Sour feedback or experience to share?

Haha we’ve been lazy and the full 10 gal batch is still cold crashing in the fermenter. Thinking of adding the purée today. Now not sure if I’ll add the purée to the kegs and rack on top of it or add it to a secondary.

Any Lallemand Philly Sour feedback or experience to share?

We’re using Vintner’s Harvest canned purées and adding them in secondary for a week before kegging.

Any Lallemand Philly Sour feedback or experience to share?

Yesterday, we pitched 4 packs in 11.5 gallons of a Berliner Weisse brew at 1.043 SG. We are fermenting at 74F, but don't have much movement now, 22 hours in. The Tilt only shows dropping 0.001 points. Used 50% Briess 2-row and 50% white wheat malt. Mashed at 148F for 90 minutes. Added 1 oz. of...

    Keezer insulation question

Just use plain foam board. That's what we did and then we used foil tape (often found in the HVAC duct aisle in home improvement stores) to seal the corners and where it meets the freezer body at the bottom and the wood collar at the top. The foil tape is used to air seal HVAC ducts, so I...

    Brew room design questions

I would probably skip the floor sink. I clean as much as I can in place using a garden hose sprayer and my pump to pump it to the drain. Once most of the stuff is out, I clean my kettle in the sink. It's heavy to move, but it gets it the cleanest. I have seen people use small wet/dry vacs to...

    Brew room design questions

I would recommend the steam condenser lid. I think you'll find that just a vent fan won't be enough. How large of a vent duct are you installing? 6" or 8"? Make sure you builder doesn't use a little 4" kitchen/bath exhaust fan. You mentioned heat, make sure it's either electric or vented gas...

Yeast Starters for 10 Gallon Batches

Based on that calculator, it seems I could use a single pack of liquid yeast with a larger starter volume and achieve a high enough pitch rate.

Yeast Starters for 10 Gallon Batches

We made the jump from 5 gallon batches to the 20 gallon Spike Solo+ and now brew 10 gallon batches. I’m curious what everyone does for yeast starters for 10 gallon batches. For 5 gallon batches, I did 100g DME in 1L of water and pitched a pack of liquid yeast and left it on the stir plate for...

Insulating keezer collar - best options

@Tobor_8thMan, challenge with secondaries outside is then I’d need 6 CO2 bulkheads to bring CO2 in. I have an Eva-Dry E500 in there to keep humidity down. The cold may still affect the rubber diaphragms though.

    My "K3" 14.8cf Keezer Build

As a computer engineer who works in military vehicle cable harness design and electronics integration, I'm fascinated by your controller and electronics setup. Are you able to provide details on your brewery controller? I gathered you're running Raspberry Pints and BrewPi. Is it a custom...

Insulating keezer collar - best options

@Joeywhat We did similar to what you're talking about. We used 3/4" red oak plywood to build our collar and insulate with 1" rigid foam. The plywood was charred with a propane weed burner torch, then stained with 3 coats of blue dye stain, and finished with 3 coats of water-based poly. The sides...
