    Pitched yeast late

Just wanted to comment out, it got down to 1.012 and so far seems to be fine (well at least from a fermentation stand point). Good to know about opening as I probably have been a little too concerned with it. Thanks

    Pitched yeast late

Perhaps, seemed to be pretty hard to pop off but something I will keep an eye on. Still brewing extract, think this is my 6th one.

    Pitched yeast late

Update. To answer the first post, I am fermenting in a plastic bucket and the temp is probably in the 62-64 range. No visible signs of infection and after opening up last night I did see some krausen. So as of last night, I opened it up and took a reading and I am at 1.020 down from 1.054. A...

    Pitched yeast late

So ive been brewing for about a year so going to throw this here. Brewed last friday. After 48 hours and no air lock activity I realized I never pitched the yeast (dont drink and brew). Went to the store, got some and pitched 72 hours after brew (no funky smell, no noticeable anything growing on...

Beer line length for 650ss flow control faucets?

You've probably already done this by now but I saw no responses and I just recently got these faucets so I wanted to share my experience. Now this was a new kegerator build so I have no experience with line variations, but I simply used 5 foot length for both my taps. So far had a stout on one...

    Pineapple Juice in IPA?

Ive just started brewing so just using brewers best kits for now, think it was columbus and cascade. I was going to dryhop with citra but didnt. I may go pick some up from the local brew store today and try and do it in the keg, Ive heard people having luck with that. Did you dry hop? If so...

    Pineapple Juice in IPA?

Nice! Kegged mine last night, final alcohol of 6.2%. I also noticed mine is quite hazy like yours. So far I was getting nothing on the Pineapple front (taste or smell) so I am a little dissapointed. Think i added 34oz vs your 46oz so that may have not been enough for mine. Hoping some more may...

    Pineapple Juice in IPA?

Glad to hear. I brewed mine this past weekend so its sitting in the fermenter now. I bought a 4 pack of pure pineapple juice from Trader Joe's (think it was around 34 oz total) and added it while cooling the wort. Was getting much on initial taste but we'll see in another week and a half or so...

    Post your infection

Yup missed a key. It is a 5 gallon carboy. I dont plan on going to the secondary often unless its a stout like this. I'll be sure to brew more next time. I'll take a look at this in the morning in better light and see what it looks like and what I can capture. For a few days now it did have...

    Post your infection

Sorry my daughter was going to bed and I snapped them quick. They do look more like little bubbles and they are located around the nibs in general. No I should have paid more attention I did not soak them. It was a bit warmer here today so this has been sitting around 63-64 and it got up to...

    Post your infection

Not sure what you can tell, sorry for crappy pics. Is this the beginning of an infection? 6 days in secondary on cocoa nibs. Starting to see some bubbling around the nibs and suddenly I have activity in the airlock once a minute or so when I had nothing past few days. Infection or just oils and...

    Yeast in Brewers Best Kits

Sorry let me re-phrase. Im not trying to run up a debate. My point in asking is that I know its common practice to rehydrate but not necessary. My reason for asking is is there a reason these kits say to do it that way? I'm still a bit novice when it comes to this and just trying to understand...

    Yeast in Brewers Best Kits

I've made a few kits now from Brewers Best and notice it always says not to rehydrate the yeast and just dump it in dry. Everywhere I seem to read or brewer friends I talk to seem to be confused why it says to do it this way. My question is, should I be rehydrating the yeast before putting it...

    Pineapple Juice in IPA?

Great thread. I'm planning on brewing a pineapple ipa in the next 2 weeks so Ill be following this thread closely. I was debating adding it during secondary but think ill go with your method instead. Please keep us updated as it goes through fermentation and eventually into bottles (or kegs)...

    Transitioning to kegging

very nice, let us know how it works out. I ultimately went with the other package but that's nice that you live so close to them and can easily exchange that reg if there are issues, seems likes you got a great deal.
