    Chimay Premiere (Red)

So, last night I decided to splurge and purchase a bottle of Chimay Premiere. It's a Belgian Trappist Ale. It cost me $11.00 for a 25.4 oz bottle... which seemed a bit ridiculous, but a friend of mine has really talked this beer up... so I gave it a shot. It really was hands down the best beer I...

    First Taste!

I kind of have a journal going on of my first brewing experience under "Extract Brewing" but I wanted to make a separate thread to show some pictures of my first taste. These are pictures of my IPA which I had last night. The beer was bottled for one week and one day (and it already tastes good...

    First Extract Brew

The whole brewing process was a lot of fun... and I was pretty sure even before my taste tonight that I wanted to do it again, but it gets you way more hooked if your first batch is delicious... and I must say... it is delicious. I went into having pretty low expectations... because I felt...

    First Extract Brew

Tonight I'll be sampling my beer. It's been in the bottle for one week and one day. I know it's not "ready" until 3 or 4 weeks, but I atleast have to try one! I'll post a picture of how it's looking and if I come back disappointed, be sure to remind me that I still need to give it a couple...

    Extract Kit Question

It sure doesn't make sense they call it an Oktoberfest or a Bock then... if truly it is an ale. Hmm.. I may try it anyway.

    First Extract Brew

Okay here are some pictures of the bottling process at my brother's house. My brother just recently bought this house and is completely renovating it... so that will explain the missing cupboards, no tiling, etc (if you even notice). Now, onto the pictures! Sanitizing Sanitizing...

    Extract Kit Question

Hey Tophe... thanks for the reply. Yeah, the instructions are a bit generic.. I'll have to look the midwestsupplies/northern brewer kits. Right now I'm buying at my local shop.... Siciliano's Market.... and they have great prices, and no shipping! What are you brewing up? Good luck!

    Yet another stupid question

I recently discovered this as well.... in fact, I called my brother the day after we brewed (his house is where we were storing the beer at) and asked him if he thought that cap was supposed to come off, and to have him check it. He was smart enough to realize it had holes in it.

    Extract Kit Question

Hey - For my next batch I was thinking of doing a German Oktoberfest or Traditional European Bock.... both of which are Brewer's Best kits. I'm real new to this, so correct me if I am wrong, but aren't Oktoberfests and Bock's lagers? So, don't they need to be fermented in a cool area? The...

    Mellow IPA

Okay... I just bottled my first batch ever on Wednesday. It was an IPA extract kit from LD Carlson / Brewer's Best. I messed up tremendously along the way, all the while being assured it wasn't a big deal by helpful voices on this forum.... and told that my errors weren't that tragic. Well, I...
