I am currently based in Bangalore, India.
When I moved here, I brought along a few PM recipes, but all of those have been brewed and now the only ingredients I now have access to are the ones available at http://www.brewof.com/. As you will see on the website, I have limited access to...
I'm brewing in India with no central AC, I am at the mercy of the weather gods when it comes to bottle conditioning (my fermentation cooler has my trippel in it), and the room temperature varies from 70 - 95 F, and will get warmer as summer really starts to set in.
How will this affect my...
Thanks a lot for the feedback
I'll keep a nylon bag handy - This is the first time I've had a boil over, so I'll prepare better next time
For the cooldown, I used a wort chiller, but that was pretty useless once I hit 90F since the tap water was so warm. I did change my water out a little...
Just finished the first stage of my very first Trappist Trippel. It's my fourth brew overall, but have a few questions and notes.
Mini-Mash with DME and Safbrew T-58 dry yeast
- Ran out of propane just after I added the DME. I was chatting with a buddy, so didn't notice this for 10-15...
Yep .. The recipe isn't pure extract .. I had 1.75 lbs of base malt and 1.25 lbs of specialty grains steeping for 45 mins ..
Maybe the water composition here in India isn't ideal so I should steep for more time? I was too excited to get started on my first beer, so haven't taken the time to do...
Thanks for the feedback guys .. After all that .. I re-read the recipe and I should have topped it off to 5.25 gallons so I end up with 5 gallons at the end .. With all the conversion from gallons to liters that I had to constantly do (bottled water is in liters) .. I lost track of what the real...
3rd brew overall, but first since moving to India :)..
I did my first mini mash brew with dry yeast and DME last weekend .. Here's the recipe I used - Honey Wheat Ale
I think most of the process went through fine ... soak grains for 45 mins .. then added the DME slowly to make sure it...
Thanks a lot for the referral GeekGuy .. I was looking into setting up a fridge with a temperature control .. but this is way more easier and cost effective .. Just ordered one and can't wait to use it..
That's what I am planning to do - put in a ice bath that I load up before I leave for work. Also, with cooler temperatures coming, life should get easier.
Austin Home Brew has got this funky primary, a modified 8 gallon paint bucket with with a hole drilled in for the airlock. But its not a...
Thanks for the feedback guys - Part of my reason to post this is to give fellow newbies hope, that no matter how much they screw up, their beer is still going to be drinkable
Fortunately, for my second brew, a Honey Porter, I was able to fix most of my mistakes.
No issues at boil time...
So here's how I "screwed up" my first brew Honey Hibiscus Wit
- Added Coriander seeds directly into wort instead of cracking them first. There goes the coriander flavor!
- Austin Homebrew had forgotten to add hops to my package, so I had to stop the boil and run to the store to get it...
