How much beer do you drink?

I drink 1-2 every other day. Unless there is a Pittsburgh panther game on, then i'm not sure. Need to drink a lot this season, it's been painful to watch.

How do I know when it's done fermenting in bottles?

Yes, there is a temperature correction for hydrometers. Check out this site for an explanation on hydrometers and a table for the temperature correction. http://www.howtobrew.com/appendices/appendixA.html I like howtobrew.com in general, lots of good information.

    My first brew,Well.....

My first batch was not wonderful either. Fortunately I have roommates who can drink natty ice, they thought the beer was good.... or maybe they loved that it was free... Try and figure out what went wrong so you don't repeat the mistake. Keep your head up, you will be making great tasting beer...

Did you Make your Wort Chiller, or Did You Buy One?

correction..... 3/8" x 25' is the size. If I would have received a 25 inch wort chiller I would have been a little upset.

Did you Make your Wort Chiller, or Did You Buy One?

I got my 3/8" x 25" (and some other goodies) from Northern Brewer. They were having a special, $5 for shipping anywhere in the lower 48 states. I once tried boiling 5 gallons on my stove and then cooling it in an ice bath (that made for a long night). Wort chiller is a wonderful thing.

    Bottled vs Kegged..

I am also still new to brewing and kegging. I have kegged 4 of 7 batches so far. The big difference for me, kegging is easier than bottling. I am not sure if there is a taste difference...... Does anyone know???? Plus having your beer on tap is awesome. keg = easy and awesome :rockin:

    yeast starter

ooooh.... For some reason I was thinking that rehydrating yeast was making a yeast starter. It all makes more sense now. The wiki did help. I am new to this forum and didn't think to check it out before. Thanks for the info DeathBrewer!!!

    yeast starter

I want to use a yeast starter for my next batch and have a couple of questions. 1. Can you add yeast to just the warm water (95 - 105 F) or do you need to throw in some DME, I have seen suggestions for both? 2. Is there any time where yeast starter is not a good idea (like high alcohol...

Hello all, Im from pittsburgh and am currently a super senior at Pitt (taking 5 years to graduate has nothing to do with this hobby by the way, i don't think so at least). I just brewed my sixth batch yesterday and am currently gathering equipment to make the jump to all grain. I love...
