how long to aerate with wand and pure o2

I just strain my beer going into fermenter from my keggle. It pours in slow and bubbles like mad, so that is plenty of oxygen. My fermenter is bubbly and smells delicious for a long time after it reaches pitching temps.

Things that have fallen in your beer !

Vice grip. Had it on the side of my kettle to move it around, and I accidently unlatched it and it fell into my just boiled wort. I'm really, REALLY hoping this beer turns out ok. The beer had just finished boiling, and it took about 30 mins to cool down, so hopefully it killed everything on it...

    Harvesting yeast from blow off?

I had a crazy blow off from my last wheat batch. I simply cleaned up the edge of my mason jar that i was using as my blow off vessel and poured the yeast into a sanitized white labs yeast container. after it settled for a day in the fridge, it was a perfectly golden and clear beer with a ton of...

    Too much priming sugar?

Not assigning blame to anyone, just painting a picture for future googlers. The kit was said to be measured out exactly, with just enough to finish it all out. Only after I poured in the sugar did I realize my mistake.

    Too much priming sugar?

5.5 gallons, sorry. I boiled it in water before putting it in the beer. I was hoping there would be some fermentation going on still, but you might be right, very well could have all fermented out. Oh well, it's a learning experience and the beer actually tastes pretty darn good even with...

    Too much priming sugar?

Just for future reference, should anyone want to know information on how this turned out: I fermented the beer for 4 days, then bottled. Bottle aging for 3 or 4 days now and there is little to no carbonation in most bottles. There must have been a ton of yeast left over as there was pretty...

    Too much priming sugar?

aint that the truth. I just found a sweet kit locally on CL... fridge with taps, co2 system and a carboy, at a damn good price. might have to pull the trigger. I love draught beer better, but bottles just seemed easier at the time... until I had to actually get round to cleaned and filling...

    Too much priming sugar?

It's all back in the bottling bucket with an airlock... apparently my yeast is still super active even though FG hit the target and the airlock had stopped... every single bottle was hissing and had that sweet fog after only a few hours... i totally wasn't expecting it to be that fast...

    Too much priming sugar?

Would I be better off just gently pouring it all back into my fermenter to ferment out for a few days, then bottle it all again? I could probably put it back in my bottling bucket as it has an airlock on the top, and has TOOONNNNSSS of head space should it flare up. I think ill just accept my...

    Too much priming sugar?

Could I possibly uncap them and put foil over the top? Leave em to off gas for a few days? I really, really hope I didn't ruin the beer. It tastes great! Like bananas and honey wheat!

    Too much priming sugar?

So I think I just messed up a bit. Brewing a German Wheat beer, just bottled today after 2 weeks of fermentation. Ok... so I grabbed the bag of Corn Sugar from my LHBS that SHOULD have been the right amount for the recipe, as the directions said, but as I got to the very last bit of sugar...

What kind of sugar do you use for fermentation? :)

I boil water in a smaller pot while the wort cools. I add the cooled sugar after pitching, or just after the krausen begins to fall. Just depends on the beer. For my current wheat beer, I added one pound to like 2 cups of boiling water, at flame out. I don't want to boil the flavor away, just...

    I screwed up by cold-crashing

Good info in here. I'm on track to do this to my Wheat ale later this week. Thanks.

Dilemma - What temp is too low to bottle carb?

Get yourself a big tote container and stack your goods in there. I keep mine tucked away in a closet. You will be surprised how easy it is to pack all your gear up when you have a decent tote. Wifey doesn't complain any more. As for bottles: go to your local liquor store and ask for beer or...

So yeah my fermentation was done in like 3 days!

I'd just leave it in the primary to clean up for another week. Can't hurt.
