    blackberry wheat

Yummm....Blackberry. I have done quite a few fruit beers as they are something the wife likes. We just kicked a Red Raspberry keg yesterday. Did you put the fruit in the primary? I would suggest putting it in the secondary to keep the fruit flavor alive. I am not a big fan of extracts, the...

    Long Fermentation

Hey guys, you cannot control mother nature. Yeast is a living thing and like a women, is going to do what it is going to do. If it is still bubbling, let it bubble until it stops. If you are following an instruction sheet, keep in mind, they are general instructions, they cannot control...

    Too long in the Oxi-Clean

I ran into the same thing and I was not using Oxi-clean. I found it was the glue that was holding on the label. I am not sure which bottle the glue came from (or the brewery for that matter) but started sticking to just a few that I know the glue wont contaminate the bottles. I ended up throwing...

    Am I infected?

I had a Belgian wit do the same thing, it bubbled for 10 days. The one I brewed before that, same thing and they both came out great. When it is ready to bottle, do it. Dont forget, you are drinking "green" beer and it will not have the flavor of a conditioned beer. I kegged both of mine and...

    Hefeweizen Recipe

It looks like a good recipe to me, I would add the Hallertau at the end as well. I just brewed one up a week ago with the same yeast. I have used this yeast before and it works out great. I also used 8 oz of crystal malt. Remember, you can always adjust it next time while you are enjoying this one.

    What is this???

Yes, welcome to the addiction. I am up to 8 fermentors. There are so many styles of beer to brew, I want to try them all before I die.

I'm tossing it down the drain!

Call me crazy but I brew for taste, not ABV. Why throw it out if it tastes good. Bottle it up, it will make a good beer for a long hot summer day when you have nothing better to do than mow the lawn and drink beer.

    Yeast preference poll

Yes, I had one take almost 48 hrs before and it came out just fine. I have been using both dry and liquid, the liquid being from White Labs. I have noticed, in the short time I have been brewing, that the liquid White Labs takes a while to start but, as I said, it all comes out in the end.

    growing hops?

You guys worry too much, relax. I started growing hops last year and have had great luck. I may be in NY where you may think it doesnt get hot and humid but that thinking would be wrong. My soil is solid clay about 12 inches down but I do have good topsoil. When it rains, the water sits on top...

    Hello from WNY

Hello everyone, I just started brewing this fall and have had a blast so far. I have 4 batches rolling right now. There is a raspberry wheat conditioning in the keg, an IPA in the secondary, a stout in the primary and a cherry wheat in the primary. My wife is the fruit beer nut. Keep the wife...
