Does anyone have suggestions for brewing with cascade hops besides an IPA? I am growing them and have a bunch in the freezer I need to use; haven't had time to brew and have to before the next crop comes in!!
I'm guessing just about any pest from ants to aphids to japanese beetles. I noticed that my plants where starting to be the main course in the yard and a friend told me about the concoction: started using it and whatever was eating my plants stopped (never did get a visual on the bastards!).

I live in RI and am growing cascade and hallentauer. Last year was my first year; didn't get enough out of the hallentauers but definitely got enough out of the cascades to brew a batch (5 rizomes).
While at starbucks this winter I noticed they where giving away coffee grinds for fertilizing gardens. I gave it a try and threw them down on my plants. I live in RI and they are starting to sprout again with a vengance!!! Coffee grinds do work on hops.

Your best bet is to talk to a local micro brewer. He will know what grows well and what doesn't in your neck of the woods. Cascade grows very well here in north america. Might also want to check with a local nursery or two. They are obviously the subject matter experts on the soil conditions...
