Thanks for the replies. I pitched the yeast, yesterday after 20h of smacking the pack. Fermentation has not started yet. I will wait 2 more days. If it doesn't start at all I will pitch a pack of dry WB06 yeast that I bought today. don't know if it's good or not, mixing this two yeast, but I...

Wyeast 3068 with almost 6 months

Hi, I brewed today a Wheat beer, everything went ok, but when I was going to add the yeast I forgot that this was a liquid yeast (I'm used to dry yeast) and the MFG is 14 May 2015. So it has 5 months and a half. I have smacked it and I'm waiting it to swell (2h now). The wort is in the...

Thanks guys for the replies. Regarding the 90 min boil, should I change the time of the hop addition?

    New to All Grain

Hello, I want to make my first All Grain batch and also make my own recipe. Does this wheat recipe look ok? For 20 Litres: 2,90 kg Wheat Malt, Ger 1,60 kg Pilsner (2 Row) Bel 100gr Rice Hulls 1,0 pkg Wyeast Labs #3068 125ml 20gr Hallertauer Hersbrucker [4,00 %] - 60 min 15gr Hallertauer...

    Mash tun size

Update! Got the 52QT Xtreme! :) I have a question, can I use fibre washers to seal the tap connection? Would it affect the beer? Also, I have to clean some brass fittings. On How to Brew says to use white vinegar. Can I use white wine vinegar instead? Thanks,

    Mash tun size

I did the math about the real quantity of mash inside the tun and it will be approximately 20 L (13 L of water and about 7L of grains). So that means a dead space of 30 L, and this is my biggest concern. I dont want to buy something big and affect my efficiency. How much heat loss should I...

    Mash tun size

Reviving this post.... I saw on amazon a good deal. It's a 52 qt coleman xtreme, for the price of the 36 qt. As I posted previously I only intend to brew 20L batches. If I go with the 52 qt, will I lose efficiency? or will I be OK?

1 yeast packet of 11.5g and 2 batches

Hi, I have a packet of dry yeast SafAle S-04 11.5g and I would like to use it for 2 batches. One is a brewferm kriek kit that makes 12 litres and at the same time I would like to make 5 litres of cider. My concern is, how much grams should I use in each of the batches??? Regards, Oz
