That makes total sense. The total amount of sugars are already measured in the kit. So the OG cant be higher unless they sent too much, which they probably didnt. Should have my keezer set up and going for the anual bash on the 18th. I have a wheat conditioning in one keg and the black ipa ill...
So a full boil is the only way to ever get an accurate OG? I topped off by pouring water from a pitcher from about five feet i thought that would both mix and aerate.

Holy cow! Extract partial boil chilled to 80 f. topped off with tap water from my kitchen faucet. Pitched us-05 straight from packet fermenting at constant 68.
