    After Fermentation?

Be a little careful about dumping your trub outside. Hops can be toxic to some animal species, especially dogs.

    Lets help a brewer survive

Rebel Brewer is a homebrew shop that used to be in Nashville, TN. They moved to Minnesota for some reason.

    Lets help a brewer survive

Dixie beer has a really interesting history. They were caught several times making beer during prohibition, in the 1960s they had a batch become contaminated by construction fumes that really affected their reputation, the brewery was destroyed by hurricane Katrina, they have gone bankrupt a...

    What SRM is this?

Well yeah, if you're just going to round off I guess.

    What SRM is this?

Based on the photo I'd say 4 to 5. You can get color charts on line and compare them to the beer under the same lighting.

    Oxidised bottles in batch

If it's truly just a few bottles, the most likely source of infection is the bottles themselves. Star San is a surface sanitizer so if there is a bit of gunk somewhere in the bottle or cap, it won't get sanitized.

    Bottled Beer Serving Temperature

If you bottle, it's easy. Just leave the bottles at room temperature a bit before opening. If I don't want to wait, I'll sometimes run some warm water from the tap over the bottle a minute or two (usually for stouts, porters and dubbels in the winter).

How close are you to south Chicago? I can put you in touch with my cousin, No Lips Joey. One visit from Joey ... problem solved. And his rates are very reasonable.

If you could do it all over again...

Yes, I would do it again. Because I still enjoy it. The day I stop enjoying brewing will be the day I stop brewing. Speaking only for myself, if my only goal was to have good beer ... I would just buy good beer. Because these days there are so many great commercial choices. I homebrew because...

    Help a friend with a Tripel !! :)

Here are my thoughts while we wait on the experts to chime in. Just in case, I would make sure your gravity reading was correct; for example, correcting hydrometer for temperature, stirred well. Then you have several options. The best time to fix this is after the mash/before the boil. But it...

Brewing beer not to a "style"

I have two styles of beer ... those I like and those I don't. I can't even spell BJCP.

    Commercial Beer Quality

My experience has been brewers appreciate unsolicited criticism of their beers at about the same rate parents appreciate unsolicited criticism about how to raise their kids. But if they ask and I get the vibe they really want feedback I'll give them my thoughts. But I always stress it's my...
