coing for my first non kit brew

I am planning on brewing this weekend and instead of buying a high priced kit buying just the ingredients I need. Any suggestions? I want to do either some sort of pale ale, IPA, or red ale. Currently looking for recipes and ingredients so the more suggestions the better. So far the kits I...

Any place to get free bottles?

I just talked with my local micro brew pub and the folks there hooked me up. Virgin bottles for .25 each, great deal. Clean new bottles ready for sanitation. My advice, just ask your local micro joint.

    First batch blunders...some advice needed

Thanks for all the quick responses, the theory I have is in about 5-7 days the fermentation slows, placing into a secondary will jumpstart it back to life, leave it for two weeks or so and watch the fermentation stop, prime, bottle and condition for another few weeks then enjoy. Let me know if...

    First batch blunders...some advice needed

Got my first batch into the primary last night not without drama of course. So, the questions, I accidentally boiled over my wort while grabbing a bandaid for my cut finger(damn lme can lid), lost about .25 to .5 gal, went on as scheduled though and everything seems fine. Cooled my wort after...
