Did you take a hydrometer reading for the OG ? At times, you will be unsure if the beer is fermenting or not. A healthy batch of yeast eats around 65 to 70 percent of available sugars ( often much more ). If you take a reading and notice that the hydrometer reading is not 35% or less of the OG...
i found the mash tun the most tedious piece of equipment that I had to deal with. this being said, i still was able to crush my grains without a grain mill by carefully cracking the grain by rolling a baseball bat over the grain. get the tun out of the way...my opinion
dude, my second batch i ever made was an extract IPA that ended up blowing off the airlock and ooozeed like crazy as well. I had been at work the all day when the airlock oozed, and when I finally got it all cleaned and organized, only 1.5 gallons of wort remained... still tasted good

Speaking of 'beer church, I was in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago..visited an old church that was converted in a brew house named Church Brew Works . Butttt they kept the church in its historical form.. cool...
