It would tremendously aerate the wort and help speed up the cold break. From flame out to 70 degrees takes me about 5-10 minutes with the paint stirrer at high speed. That's also including a basic wort chiller. It'll help, just make sure its all cleaned and sanitized.

Thanks for the reply JB, the tank is new but the regulator is an old perlick regulator that came with a kegarator in my dad's house. I do plan on getting a new regulator eventually. But does a 5# tank normally last for 1 keg or should it last for more? I'd hate to think I have to exchange the...
I was wondering how long a 5lb CO2 tank usually lasts. I kegged 5 gallons, forced carbed at 20psi for 3 days and served at 9psi since mid December. Just recently noticed my regulator is down below 5psi and tried to turn the pressure back up to 9 psi to no avail. The tank does feel light so...
I was wondering myself if I under pitched my oktoberfest last night. I pitched one #2633 smack pack at 68 then put in keezer at 50. Sounds like I should have made a starter and pitched it at 50. Is one pack enough, should I pitch one more or just relax and let it be?
Thats what I was wondering about with the white labs vials as well. I used a vial on my first batch of homebrew last year and didn't have a problem. I didn't know anything about starters at that time but I'd probably make a starter now when using the vials.
Using a yeast pitching rate...
This is pretty much what I was following, the optimal pitch rate of the gravity of beer I was making suggested around 200 billion cells. Since it said each smack pack yields around 100 billion, I pitched 2 packs. Low and behold I checked the beer today and it's already down to 1.013 so even...
Thanks for the responses. I was checking out a brew calculator to figure out how many packs needed without a starter and it called for 2 packs. So yeah 2 packs not prepared right but I was just happy that it still started bubbling away the next day. I have looked into making starters just...
I have a question that I'll probably answer when asking it. I know that I have to smack the packs to break the activator of nutrients inside and let incubate a few hours before pitching. Well I did so the other day when brewing, however when pitching I noticed that the small bag inside the pack...
Brewed this last week as my introductory 1st batch in homebrewing, with the exception of a Mr Beer kit my wife got me last year xmas time. Hit an OG of 1.060 and checked on it last night after 6 days with an gravity of 1.016. During my first brew I hit a few bumps, I never got my wort to a good...
