CL Refractometer - not mine, but I bought one - $12

Brewed with it last night. Works great, but it does not have automatic temp calibration. I never used a refractometer before, so it must have been interesting seeing my buddy and I fumbling around like idiots with it :tank:

CL Refractometer - not mine, but I bought one - $12

Just got mine yesterday, the 0-25 scale. Brand new, no apparent defects. I will be brewing this weekend so I will let everyone know the quality. :mug:

    Scratched bottling bucket... discard?

I have a hand-me-down bucket that is 10+ years old. Numerous scratches. Literally too many to count. Never had a bad batch, ever. Good sanitizing practices work wonders.

World of Beer - Viera, FL

There is a WOB by me in Sarasota, FL, just south of Tampa. I was talking to the manager/bartenders and they have to go through an intensive beer education program offered through the company. They also have to do repeat competency exams every year or so. The WOB by me also has breweries come...

    kegging noob question

Cooling the beer down in the keg before carbonation is a good idea. However, I never want to add an extra day of waiting! I usually just keg the fermentation temp beer, purge, then set to 30 psi for 1-2 days in the kegerator. After the 2 days, vent, then turn down to serving pressure. I have...

    Haier vs. Edgestar

Also, I want to add that I agree with whutever, definitely go to micromatic.com forum. They have a great thread on the Edgestar and how to go about adjusting the thermostat. Usually they come with the minimum set temp a little high. My avatar is in honor of the late and great DIO! Dio can you...

    Haier vs. Edgestar

Speaking from ownership experience, I think the Edgestar is a good value. Mine worked great out of the box. Had to tinker with the thermostat for about 2min and now I am pouring a cool 39F liquid temp!

Grand Opening: 10% off all orders and 2 Pounds for $14.00

I agree. The checkout process was a little clunky and confusing. Great price for the hops though -- I ordered one of the 2lb packs. Thanks! I look forward to purchasing from you again.

    First AG, a delicious Wit

From what I am reading on the forums (I suppose I should have looked at coriander prep beforehand), you need to crush them up really fine. I just pounded them. Good thing it is only a minor flavor additive. Thats probably why mine got stuck in the racking cane. Do you use a mortar and pestle...

    First AG, a delicious Wit

Ah darn, I guess the pictures didn't come up..weird. http://picasaweb.google.com/AFuriato08/AGBrewing# That link should work. The coriander hulls kept getting stuck in the slit opening for the cane :(

    First AG, a delicious Wit

Here is the porridge I was telling ya'll about... This was at the end of mash out... And this one is the nice color I got during the boil. Kind of reminds me of a hoegaardenish type wit.

    First AG, a delicious Wit

Hey All, I just completed my first AG 3 gallon batch and decided I would post the obligatory thank you! I did a bunch of reading on these forums to learn/gear up for what I would need to do. The only problem I had with my brew night was that I forgot to take a OG reading for some reason. I...
