I guess I'm a little late in joining this thread, but I thought this might be useful... Unfortunately, neither the pressure of the CO2 in the beer nor the thin layer of CO2 on top would keep O2 out. Any O2 in contact with the CO2 will diffuse into the CO2, and the CO2 will likewise diffuse...
