    Use fermenter as keg: possible?

Corny kegs , with a spunding valve, work great for fermenting. You don’t have to mess with priming sugar because the beer will already be carbonated to whatever level you want and yes you can serve right from the keg you fermented in. Just be reasonably careful about keeping the trub out best...

Closed Transfer: What About the Jumper Lines?

I’m assuming you’re serving ‘on tap’? Since you’re fermenting in Corny kegs, why not eliminate the blow off tube by putting on a spunding valve so as to ferment under pressure. Then serve on the lees. After the first couple pours the sediment is gone and you have beer that has not been...

    Leaky keg driving me mad...

One time I had a gas leak I had trouble finding. Turned out it was post itself that had a tiny crack in the metal…. a manufacturing defect I guess. Replaced the post and problem fixed.

Can pressure fermenter replace temp control chamber?

I’ve been fermenting ales, stouts, and lagers under pressure in corny kegs at basement temperatures for several years now, and I really like it. Not sure what yeast strains tolerate pressure brewing …. I use S-05, 34/70, and I’ve just done one batch with a Kveik strain with no problems...

    My First Time with Kveik

So how did your ferment under pressure go? I bought a pkg of Lallemand Kveik Ale yeast and am itching to try it but have absolutely no experience with it. I’ve started fermenting under pressure lately and really like it.

    Alibaba apple grinder

Let us know how the purchase went. A few weeks ago I bought an electronic part for my vacuum cleaner on Aliexpress, ,… couldn’t find it domestically. It shipped almost immediately but they said to expect 6 week shipping time. (slow boat from China I guess). Somewhere in the fine print it...

Can I convert a carbonation keg lid to dispense?

I once had a problem with a floating dip tube that was a bit too long. The tube would occasionally kink and obstruct the liquid flow. Also, when the keg was getting low, it would sometimes hold the pickup end above the surface so only gas would come out. Solved by shaking or inverting the...

Room temperature fermentation with SafLager 34/70

I like to ferment with 34/70, in corny kegs under about 12 psi. Temperatures in the mid 60’s don’t seem to have any adverse effects. That being said, Bramling Cross noted that it takes a long time to clear when fermented warm and I think he’s right. No idea why, but batches fermented at...

Initial Wiring Setup for an eHERMS. Need 2x 240V and 1 120V GFCI

I built a system similar to what you describe. It has kind of evolved over time as my brewing has evolved. Anyway it’s a remote breaker panel that powers two control panels driving 5500w elements, and an overhead lighted exhaust vent. The idea was to run the rims system while boiling. To be...

quick check - proposed pressurized fermentation process?

Yup, I ordered it through White Labs yeast vault. It took quite a while to get it though... Something like four months. I was pretty happy with the yeast, so I would say it was worth it.

quick check - proposed pressurized fermentation process?

What fortuitous timing for this thread. I'm about to try my first fermentation under pressure and was wondering about blow-off to plan for headspace in my fermentation vessels. I avoid foam control products, but I would imagine the pressure would keep foaming down somewhat. I'm using WLP925...
