Reviving a long dead thread but had a HopSun last week and remembered that I love it. Going to do a repeat of this brew.
Just ordered everything from NHB. I'll update this post how it goes in a few weeks when I brew. I'm a little more experienced than last time so hoping for some better luck...
Well. Almost 2 months since brewing.
OG was about 1.075 But its hard to tell because of pear molecules. (Could have been high because of them or low?)
It almost blew out my stopper/Air lock so I switched it over to a blow off tube within the first day.
Racked it to Secondary at 3 weeks, Tons...
Eee yeah that doesn't look good. I'm sorry I can't provide any input to what is the issue but I can say that I just got done kegging my cider and I forgot to bleed the o2 off of the keg after I pressurized...
Thank Yooper for reminding me (Its only been 5 minutes)
So I've read through the last few pages and I have a question that has been answered.
I want to use a bottle bigger than 12oz. So I'm thinking of using Screw Top Wine bottles? Any thoughts on this?
Or if this is not possible then I will use 22oz bomber bottles.
How would the cook time change...
So didn't really follow a recipe at all.
5 Gal Cider
2 cups White sugar
1.5lb brown sugar
1 cup of lemon juice
4lb Pears
1/3cup Maple Syrup
So found a cider near me that I really liked, It was nice and tart. Went and talked to the stand (Near Chicago WineMakers on North Ave/83rd in...
Brewed about 3 weeks ago. I always prefer a stronger beer than a light one so I upped all the grains a bit to account for my bad efficiency .
Ended up at 1.059 or so.
Fermented for a few weeks and made the mistake of moving it to secondary at 1.022. I realized this mistake about halfway...
Put in an order to AHB to make this.. not a super cheap brew but not too bad. About $40 before shipping for a 5gal batch.
Prob won't brew for a week or 3 though :(
So just a follow up... My Sparge got stuck... That sucked. I used about .75lb Rice hulls and no luck.
Then My hop bag broke open so draining the kettle sucked also as I had leaf hops and they like to clog quite well...
Finally, The calculator told me too much water (or I just used too much)...
So This is the only clone I could find so I'm going with it.
Brewing this today. Ordered it all from Austin HB.. Shipping killed me at like $16 to get it here in time, Total order was be about $45 with yeast and shipping (Haven't bought yeast yet).
The grain/hops were only about $23.
1 x...
Quoting the prices from the other thread. I really want some of the 3gal tanks for concerts and stuff. Although, I imagine a 3gal tank+ Air is close to the same size of a 5gal corney...
But a 1.3gal keg is way too small...
Hi Guys,
So I have a question for all the perlick owners.
When I got the Faucet, it came with one O-ring outside of the unit. Looking at the directions it says this oring goes in the back of the faucet and sits on another o-ring labeled "O-Ring seat" (this is from memory).
I cannot get...
Yeah I think i'll throw the munich in it. and Dry hop with a oz of NB.
I picked up an extra lb of Pale because my efficiency tends to be bad and I like a little stronger beers.
I also have some Roasted Barley (.9lb) but I don't know that it would fit into this at all unless I wanted to darken...
Picked up a kit online for a Ale. Ingredients provided are:
9lb Pale Ale Malt
1/2lb Crystal 40L
1/2lb Cara Pils Malt
1/2lb Munich Malt
1 1/2 oz Cluster 60min
1/2oz cluster 15min
1oz cascade 5min
I'm going to the brew store this afternoon to pick up some yeast and a SS Spoon. Any thing I...
