Hello everyone,
I am very curious too find out the limitations of a heating element I got for $2. Searching around hasn't satisfied me.
So the element is marked 208V and 2000W. This should be safe to operate in a RIMS tube? I intend to build 110V temp controller and would really like to...
I'm looking at brewing on Thanksgiving weekend, then fermenting for a few weeks. I am more concerned for the fermentation temp than I am for the lagering temp. By mid to late December ambient temps should be in the forties, if not lower. Plus temps through January and February will get lower.
So I am gearing up the nerve to do my first Lager beer. I believe I'll be able to hit the fermentation temp just fine. I am concerned with the lagering though. the temps in my garage have been in the low 50's, and it seems this will not change. I mean it's only going to get colder. But as far as...
I just have this simple Question.
Just one.
When taking a gravity reading of wort from the mash tun, should I adjust for temp.
That was it.

That looks pretty close to the real deal. To bad your flying blind. I can only say that when you pour a glass, and need another, your on the right track.
If you can find Aktien Landbier, this is the closest example that comes to mind, it has similar qualities. Though it is lighter and watery by comparison.
I am in the Army and moving to Colorado. It will be hauled of in my household goods, and I will only have to pay an excise tax in Colorado. At .08 cents per gallon, its costing me around $4.00! Half the value is in the bottles and racks. 16 racks of beer has cost me less than $225.
