Dorm fridge suggestions - fermentation chamber and serving draft from draft tower?

After I completely ruined my Igloo FR464 (4.6 cubic feet) while trying to drill the hole on the top for the draft tower, I'm now also out my fermentation chamber too. Turns out there was some hidden lines. Was a sad day. So I'm looking for a new one. I live in a small apartment so space is a...

My Experiences with the Igloo FR464

Thanks, estricklin! I plan on tossing in a computer fan of sorts in as well, I certainly have a few extra. I debated on bypassing the factory themostat, but the BlackBox worked well enough for me. I haven't done it yet, but I plan on going the cornstarch/flour and alcohol method described...

My Experiences with the Igloo FR464

Thanks for the interest! I like the fridge in general, but wish it was just a little bit bigger, but it's perfect for the cost. What you see is how far I've gotten with it. I'm currently serving my latest beer (the Red Ale kit) from it, and it's doing well with a picnic tap and the CO2 tank...

My Experiences with the Igloo FR464

Ok friends! I finally got the temperature controller I needed! I ended up using industrial strength Velcro circles to attach it to the fridge wall. One on opposite corners. I'll will end up putting another circle at the top as it kinda wiggles as you can see from the gap to the right of...

    Ever infuse spirits yourself?

A favorite of mine is to infuse a quality vodka with Swedish Fish candy. Very simply done, but easy to overdo. I've had the vodka fairly syrupy from too many Fish. I don't know about other infuses, but the Fish have to be filtered out of this one. I use a coffee filter or two.

    Where are you Brewing?

I extract brew (I'm still a newbie to all of this) in my Chicago west-suburb apartment on the second floor on the electric range. Fermentation chamber/Future kegerator combo is in the living room, though may move it out into the kitchen as well.

    Aeration: Whisk, Sparge, or AutoSiphon?

For those interested (as I certainly was), the podcast is hosted at BasicBrewing.com during the July 4, 2013 (NHC Aeration Experiment) (MP3 link) show. The Aeration experiment starts at around the 8 minute mark. Thank you, WWJPD!

    Aeration: Whisk, Sparge, or AutoSiphon?

I personally have a wine degasser that fits onto a cordless drill. Similar to, but not exactly this one: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/Beer/Stirring/Mix-Stir-Stainless-Steel.html I've only done one batch with it so I can't comment too much on its effectiveness, but it sure was fun using it and...

My Experiences with the Igloo FR464

I'm certainly learning more and more about this process as I go along, this much is for sure. Now that the fridge is no longer returnable, I figured I'd start with at least the removal of the door shelves. As with any good project, it's has become more of a pain that I figured. My plan is...

My Experiences with the Igloo FR464

I figured this would be a good place to jot down my notes as I go through the process of using this as a fermenting chamber all the way to a kegerator as time proceeds. Especially if it helps anyone else learn from what happens here. I purchased a refurbished, Igloo FR464 4.6cu ft from HOBO...

Used Old Yeast - No action. Help?!

Thankfully and luckily I didn't have any blow-off, nor did it get too close either. It only took a few days to settle down to a very gentle bubble. Since this started actually fermenting on Tuesday, I'll let it sit for another week, check Specific Gravity and then keg?
