    Kool Aid Beer

Sounds ghastly. Hopefully this will prevent him from wanting to do this. Thanks guys!

    Kool Aid Beer

Thanks for answering my question BDupree! It seems there was a snafu in communication. What he wants is something akin to "Mikes Hard Lemonade" or Smirnoff. What he lovingly refer to as "B!tch Beer".

    Banana Wine

And we don't want that. Okay, cool. I'll pick up some golden raisins then. Thanks Rowdy. And thanks for not chewing me out for "bumping" an old thread.

    Banana Wine

I'd love to try this recipe but I don't have golden raisins. I have regular raisins though, would it make a big difference if I used regular raisins instead?

    Kool Aid Beer

Please tell me this is a bad idea so I can tell my Boyfriend I'm right and he's wrong. :p My Boyfriend wants to brew a beer using Sweetened Cherry Kool Aid instead of water (and, logically, sugar). I've only found unsweetened kool aid being added for flavour. I'm assuming he would be using...

    Yet another mozz failure...help?

I'll be trying it again next Friday. I go into the big city on Thursday so I'll pick up better rennet and calcium chloride. The rennet I currently have is Junket (I know, I know, I read all over the forum that while you CAN make cheese with Junket, you really shouldn't). I used 1/2 Tablet of the...

    Yet another mozz failure...help?

I'm starting to think my thermometer isn't working properly, to be honest. It's a candy thermometer that I've had for a very long time now (more years than you can count on both hands). I'll look into picking up a new one when I go into the big city next week.

    Hello from New Mexico

I like the guys at South West Grape and Grain. They were very helpful when my boyfriend and I started the Mead last year. It'll be a year old on the 31st!

    I'm new to brewing.

Thanks. :) This is a very interesting forum and, so far, the most helpful. I'll be sticking around.

    I'm new to brewing.

...And cheese making and pretty much everything that has to do with a brewing store. I'm sorry, I should have come in sooner for introductions. I'm Anna. My Boyfriend; Xander, acquired a Mr Beer kit last year and got hooked on brewing. Our most recent attempt (the Mr Beer was a failure but...

    Yet another mozz failure...help?

None of my tap water is chlorinated and I'm pretty sure I heated the curds properly. After waiting for two hours I got frustrated so I turned the heat on the stove on. INSTANT curds! So I tried the microwave method to warm it enough to stretch and I just could not get the cheese to heat...

    Yet another mozz failure...help?

I seem to have gotten CHEESE. I turned on the stove top after 2 hours of it not coagulating and SUDDENLY I have curds. Now I'm trying to get the mozzerella to "act like taffy" like one of the videos I found. Thirty Minute Mozzarella with The Cheese Queen - YouTube So far it's getting nice...

    Yet another mozz failure...help?

...and that explains why the cheese I attempted to make this afternoon failed hardcore. It was both homogenized AND pasteurized. :(
