    Carboy/ Keg Cleaner Giveaway

These look like a much better way to clean than using brushes. Love to get one!

Rasberry wheat changed to Blackberry wheat

Now that I think about it Tlylebrew, I never did ask what your wheat recipe was, in particular, how many ounces or hops you were using. If you didn't use enough bittering hops to balance out the sweetness of the fruit you could definitely end up with a wine cooler. Although, it's not bad to...

Rasberry wheat changed to Blackberry wheat

When I made my blueberry blonde I bottled it and didn't actually get around to drinking it for a few months. The blueberry flavor was a lot stronger at bottling time than when I actually drank it from the bottle. Maybe if you give it some time in the keg the flavor will settle a little.

Rasberry wheat changed to Blackberry wheat

That should be plenty of time. I think I'm usually in the 165 degrees for around the 10-15 minute mark. The alcohol content in secondary is usually high enough that not much can survive in it. I've heard a lot of people worry about leaving the fruit on the heat for too long and setting the...

Rasberry wheat changed to Blackberry wheat

When I use real fruit I typically use 5# of fruit in a 5 gallon batch. This seems to give a nice hint of fruit without overpowering the beer. I rack the beer onto the fruit in the secondary and let it sit for 7-10 days. Make sure you have plenty of room in the secondary because fermentation...

WTB: 5 gallon ball lock kegs

Shipping might hurt a little. Although, if you have a couple of people to go in on some kegs, buy 16 of these "B Grade" kegs from kegconnection.com and get free shipping. Equals out to be $19.99 / keg.

    Strange find

+1 subscribed. Anyone find it odd that Chester hasn't posted in a few days. I'm guessing it's probably 1 of 2 reasons.....either the stuff was really, really good or really, really bad.

    Ghetto wort chiller

I bought my first homebrewing kit through the Sam Adams homebrew contest. It came with a 'How To Homebrew" DVD made by Sam Adams founder, Jim Koch. He took 2 frozen gallon jugs of water, cut the plastic off and put the ice in his fermenting bucket to cool the wort. I was only doing extract...

Read this before you buy from Kegkits.com

I got an e-mail from kegkits today (mailing list) and it looks like Tom is getting out of the ingredient business. Probably too little, too late. Who would be crazy enough to buy from him again after all of the bad past experiences. It took me 2 months to get O-rings and that was only after...

    Easy Bottling from a keg

Counter pressure bottle fillers work great but are a PITA if you want to fill some bottles from a keg in a kegerator (in my situation anyway). Unless I want to leave the fridge door open, I have to disconnect the liquid & gas disconnects from the keg, pull the keg out of the kegerator, hook up...

    What would you pay?

I've now got a total of 3 fermenting buckets, 12 carboys, & 6 kegs. Looks like my weekends are booked for the next few months. Don't mind me if I can't keep an updated signature...Primary #1, Primary #2, Primary #3..., Secondary #1, Secondary #2...., Keg #1, Keg #2.... I keep telling SWMBO...

    What would you pay?

After my offer of $600, he came down to $1000. I told him the best I could do was $800. He said he paid more than 3 times that for all of the stuff and couldn't let it go for less than $1000. I said thanks for the opportunity and that was the end of it. He e-mailed me about 45 minutes later...

    What would you pay?

I looked on Austin's Homebrew Supply site to price everything out and it came to ~$2300.00 and I didn't include the brew pots or MLT. I'm sure if I searched the web for each individual piece I could find some cheaper prices for some items but who has time for that. Plus, shipping always kills...

    What would you pay?

It is 2 stir plates, 1 flask and 0 stir bars. I'll have to pick a couple of those up somewhere.
