I live in NZ and we have some amazing hops for lagers! You should also try Motueka if you like Saaz as it also has lime notes. Think I will have to add your recipe to my “to brew “ list

A lot of New Zealand Hops are excellent in Pilsners (although I'm biased of course!). Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Riwaka, Pacifica or a combination thereof just to name a few. I just finished a pint of Pilsner I made with NS and Motueka and it is the best beer I've made yet!

I crush my own grain using a credit card gap and mash with full volume. I typically stir a couple of times during the mash and dunk the bag in the wort like a tea bag while heating to mashout. Using this method I'm consistently getting 73% brew house efficiency which I'm very happy with. It's...

If you do it at say 19-20c you will get some English character but not as much as say WLP002. It also makes a great "house" strain and floccs hard!

Thanks everyone feel a bit better for that - sort of! Target OG was 1.045 and I hit 1.046 so that's cool. I'm probably more concerned about fermentability of what I extracted. I guess I'll find out if my FG is higher than intended

Hi everyone. Last night I brewed my fourth BIAB batch - a best bitter. Unfortunately I missed my mash temp quite badly by not stirring properly and my mash was at 161 for about 5 minutes or so until I got some cold water in to get it to 155 (was aiming for 154). Will this short amount of time...
