Drove 7 hours Sunday to OH and arrived to find my hotel had cancelled my room without telling me. Found another (pricier) one and spent the eclipse on the shore of Erie. Got a few nice Pinhole effect pictures and was amazed to see totality, 360° twilight, and the "diamond ring". Worth the crazy...

It is with a perverse pride that I show you Mountain Dew Hooch. Tried some that didn't fit in the bottles. Not much flavor, and what there is isn't that nice.

My T58 fermented "Dubbel"

My first alcoholic drink since St. Valentine's Day/Ash Wednesday - an experimental strong rice ale. Happy Easter everybody!

I limit myself to drinking on weekends/special occasions. I also periodically reduce consumption further/totally during Lent/Advent. And as noted, brewing lower ABV beers can help control net ethanol consumption while enjoying more than one drink.

Just brewed my first breakfast cereal beer: "Honey Bunches of Ale" with 1.5lb six row, 6oz C20, 2oz acid malt, 1.5lb HBoO w/ Almonds, 8oz toasted oats. OG 1.057 was higher than I expected; I guess that the high sugar and starch content means lots of extractables.
