Batch started off fine, then downhill spiral!

Hi all, It's bottling day! The FG turned out to be at 1.014, which is the range of where the brew needed to be! Bottling went great! However, I had a concern as I had what looked to be flakes floating around at the top of the brew. Quite a bit of these flakes got into the brewing bucket and...

Thanks Facinerous for the response! I almost dumped my dry yeast into the wort to be safe, but changed my mind. I will look into better straining methods! Twitter : @krullyness First batch of brew : Belgian witbier - August 15, 2014

Batch started off fine, then downhill spiral!

Hi all, I brewed the Brewers Best - Black IPA a few hours ago. The boil and cool down went fine, however when I poured the wort into the carboy I encountered much blockage in my strainer. This is only my second batch and my first was the same, trub blockage. I hope it wasn't a mistake, but...

    SG reading

Hi all, I brewed a Belgian witbier using the Midwest supplies kit. However I added about a 1/2 cup of honey to the boil. I did my first SG reading tonight, ten days after the starting fermentation. My OG wasn't able to be done because the consistency was too thick. I couldn't find if this is...

I don't own one of those thief devices. Do you have a good way for getting a sample out of the carboy? Thank you for the input! Twitter : @krullyness First batch of brew : Belgian witbier - August 15, 2014

First time brew: Belgian witbier extract kit

Don't like hearing that, I used liquid and I may have rushed the process. It said that the package needed 3 hours to bloat or be at 70-72 degrees. I took the package out and warmed it up in water till the bag bloated just a bit. I think the batch looks fine. The yeast was fairly active...
