    Wiring up my Ranco?

Glad it helped :) Though I actually went to a most cheaper (in price) solution as I thought the Ranco was a bit too costly. The one (well, three now actually :) ) is 25$ and work a treat. Still have the Ranco sitting in a box somewhere.

    Building a Gas Manifold

Hiya all! So I have been kicking around the idea of building my own LP gas manifold; here is what I have so far: 1) I want to use 1" square tube for the manifold - (I posted a question about this in another area and this is a point of contention, someone posted "DON'T, suare tube is not...

Propane valves and a sealed gas tube

OK, a little more info on that OHG? What type of tubing would you suggest? I am seeing tons of people using square tube - bunches of threads, the Brutus system uses square tube, etc. Thanks!

Propane valves and a sealed gas tube

Morning all! I need some help here as I am trying to figure out how to make a sealed square tube for propane dispersion to two honeywell valves. So what I need to know is: - What size/type input port to mount on the sq. tube so that I can hook a propane tank up to it. - If I am using a...

    Keezer Temperature Issues

Well, that went from no activity to blow out real quick!! So I had initially planned to remove the inner goo from one of those liquid ice pack thingies and put that in like a peanut butter jar and immerse the probe in that. I have since modified my thought process into cutting a piece of...

    Keezer Temperature Issues

OK, so here is the final post on this matter: Building a keezer is all fun and games and what-not, but one must note that there are some caviats to it with the primary one being - do not test run the fridge with nothign in it and the temp probe just hanging in mid air. This leads to short...

Green is ground, yes. The other colors may be black/yellow or black/white.

    Keezer Temperature Issues

Update 2: Replaced controller on chest freezer - no dice. Still just clicks on, hums for 20 seconds, and lound snaps off. So, working my way down the line here: - Ranco Controller: Good (Oh, that "E1" when you push the up or down arrows is apparently normal -...

    Belgian Wit / Hoegaarden

The boiling process will also drive off the oxygen, which is unwanted in the secondary. I am still not sure as to why you would top off in the secondary though. That just makes me think that the recipe wasn't properly designed to end up with 5 gallons (or whatever). When I do my batches I...

    Belgian Wit / Hoegaarden

The blow-off tube vs the airlock question depends on the circumstances, you'd just need to keep an eye on it. I had an extract stout, a 3 gallon batch in a 6 gallon plastic ferm bucket, and the thing started foaming out the airlock. Thank god it didn't clog it! I sanitized a big spoon and...

    Belgian Wit / Hoegaarden

I am a bit confused by a few statements that the directions made: 1) The double stage section - "rack into secondary and then top up with water." -> I have never heard this one, granted I've only been brewign for a few years, but never run across this in any of my research. I...
