Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Which Fermonster model are you using? Looks like the 3 gallons one, or am I mistaken?

    Fermzilla and dry hopping

Why would not it be? Just use a T piece, on top a PET, on side a spunding valve. You can decide on the ball valve position, before the T or after the T.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Thanks, useful info! So I will keep it only under a few psi, for easy cold crashing and to kickoff the transfer.

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

Is there a way to safely pressure test this setup at home? On one of the youtube video they guy said he tested with 20 psi and was pretty good... And, actually, I am interested in the 3 gallons version, which if I read well the reviews is made of a bit thinner plastic :(. I would love to use a...

    Drilling lubricant

Thanks! I went with WD40 at the end, but next time I might try vegetable oil.

    Drilling lubricant

Do you think this would be safe/good as a lubricant to drill a stainless kettle? I got it from lidl. Or shall I just use classic WD40? After I am done, what is the best way to clean? Hot oxyclean, then passivating with hot citric acid solution?

    brown scratches on stainless

I have got the citric acid and RO filter will arrive tomorrow. I was thinking, what if my BIABasket is actually not stainless? They claimed its 304, but if not, would not it ruined by the acid bath? Can I check it first on a small spot before? How can I validate it?

    brown scratches on stainless

I will do a hot citric acid bath, for a few hours, rinse with low TDP water and let it air dry. I know, I asked the question... But based on my further readings, I concluded the star san method is not effective for this. (Anyway, it's more expensive, as you wrote) No need.

    brown scratches on stainless

Yes, I can. That is what I will do. Thanks! I will have my RO system ready in about a week, TDS in my tap water is 200 ppm. At some places, I read I should not rinse the acid, just dispose the solution and let it air dry. What do you think about this? I could either wait for RO or do it now...

    brown scratches on stainless

Thank you for the answers! Unfortunately, I can not get barkeepers friend in my country :( I can get easily TSP, sodium percarbonate (OxiClean), sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, vinegar, "Grainfather High Performance Cleaner", starsan, various acids, bleach. How shall I remove the...

    brown scratches on stainless

I am using a BIABasket in my 304 SS brewing kettle and I realized that taking the basket in and out makes lot of scratches on the inner surfaces of the kettle. As I read, usually a few small scratches are OK, but I have a mark that is a bit deeper and it has a brownish tint. I am afraid it is...

Can I put my BIAB directly on the heating element?

In what way was it counter productive? Does your eBIAB system has pump assisted wort recirculation?

    Homemade PBW Recipe

Thank you, I will give a try to TSP then. But I don't have any source for EDTA4NA neither :( My water is quite hard, plain percarbonate alone leaves me white layer and cleaning was not perfect for everything. I have read that PBW helps for both, I wanted to try, but it's not distributed in my...
