    Is this too much headspace?

So that is too much eh? I've only done 2 batches of beer and I'd say both times I had about that level in my carboy... first was a Lime Cream Ale and I was very happy with how it turned out. Although my second SMASH batch became oxygenated I'm sure... really didn't turn out like i expected...

I think I got ahead of myself a bit

There is nothing wrong with the Brewzilla. I’ve had mine a few months and I’m also a new brewer. I have 2 all grain brews under my belt now. First, a Lime Cream Ale which just finished bottle conditioning and I’ve started sharing with my friends and I currently have a Citra Smash in my...

    Additional Water for Rice Hulls

Well I don’t crush my own grain but I get it done by the LHBS and I know they do their brews with a Brewzilla as well. During the mash there is a pump which circulates the mash... but after I pull out the mash pipe and sparge the grain to rinse before my boil. The sparge was what seemed to be...

    Additional Water for Rice Hulls

Ok I appreciate the replies. I use a Brewzilla and this is only my 2nd brew. I found last time that I wasn’t getting my sparge water through without stirring which I’d like to avoid. I had read that rice hulls will help with that. I’ll try a handful this time and see how it works out!

    Additional Water for Rice Hulls

So I’m using 1.5L per pound of grain bill and it’s a I’m brewing with 10lbs of 2 row. So I planned to start with 15L of water for my mash. Now with my Brewzilla I wanted to try and use rice hulls this time to hopefully allow better water permeability. If I put in .5 pound of rice hulls should I...

    First Brewzilla Brew

Well mine is only the 110v one. And it struggled to get a good boil. Also just to note... I did skip that extra screen when I had the stuck sparge. So I could just imagine how bad it would be with it in.

    Robobrew stuck sparge

Ok. Maybe I was just wrong in thinking a really slow sparge could be bad news. I may have caused more harm by stirring it up to get it moving then.

    Robobrew stuck sparge

I am in the middle of my first brew with my Brewzilla and I’m experiencing a similar issue. I’ve been sparging for an hour already and it’s a pretty slow trickle out the bottom. I think I’m making better time than 4 hrs but looking like I may be closer to 2.

    First Brewzilla Brew

In the middle of my 1st all grain brew with my new Brewzilla and I lifted the basket to drain the grain and it’s a very very slow drain. Been going 30 mins now and still just slow trickle coming out bottom of basket. Is this normal or do I have a stuck mash and should I be doing something...

    Recipe Interpretations

Ok I know this is going to sound pretty dumb but I'm getting prepared to jump into all grain brewing. I have bought myself a Brewzilla system and I'm getting close to attempting my first brew. Now in going through recipes on this site, all amounts of grain and hops etc are given... Is the amount...
