Remind me of the timing of fermentation stages

It's hanging out in the tank and will stay there for another week (so total 2 wks in the fermenter). I'm raising the temp 1deg each morning and night until I hit room temp and will just let it sit there. Honestly, I'd rather just leave it alone instead of taking samples along the way, although...

Remind me of the timing of fermentation stages

Yeah, the plan is to take my time and let it rest for a week or so. Any reason you'd let it wait until 96hrs to raise the temp? And, raise it slow or all at once?

Remind me of the timing of fermentation stages

Boy, it's been awhile since I've really brewed. Sometimes life gets in the way, work gets horrible, you move and then quit your job after buying a new house (and then selling the old one). Things have calmed down so brewing yet again, but it's been almost a couple years of being on the bench...

Low-cost glycol chiller unit (REAL low cost)

Thanks. A friend introduced me to GOOD espresso a few years ago and, again, CL came to the rescue. Chill water eventually starts growing some nasty things when you don't drain / refill the cooler over the course of a summer of brewing.

Low-cost glycol chiller unit (REAL low cost)

I was lucky enough to pick up a SS BrewTech fermenter a few years ago but that presented a question of how to cool it. As luck would have it my local Craigslist offered up a 1/10hp aquarium chiller which is an almost ideal option. This has been on here a couple times so I'll simply underscore...

Wort share – ideas for grain steeping?

Did the share last Saturday and did my boil Sunday. 100% 2 row mashed at 150deg giving about 6 gallons of 1.0545 wort. No guidelines – anything is OK by them and the more creative the better. They brought it up to boiling so it'd store for a day. So.... My go-to recipe is a Blind Pig clone, one...

Wort share – ideas for grain steeping?

So here's the deal: Center of the Universe in Ashland, VA is doing a wort share this weekend and I signed up for a slot. Each person gets 6gal of wort (100% 2-row barley mashed at 14 degrees plato – don't know the temp until Saturday) and an invitation to submit bottles to be judged. Honestly...

Pinlock keg without fittings - worth fixing? Tips?

I'd buy it if you were local. As someone else mentioned they make good fermenters - just clamp your blow off hoses to the posts. A coke lid can be found easily as they don't have relief valves or you can plug it.

    Virginia 1550 Style Brewing Sculpture

Would be interested in coming by to see it this week. I live in VB but am in Colorado for work until Tuesday. What work does it need?

    Virginia corona mill

I'll be up @ Prince William Park this weekend – could pick it up then? Would rather grab it than ship it!
