Unorthodox Herm's - opinions and advice welcome

200°F, 93°C which is fine for a HLT.

Unorthodox Herm's - opinions and advice welcome

They are rated at 200°F or 93°. Which is more than hot enough for a HLT, which would not need to be heated above ... say 175°.

Has anyone tried this Duda Y Inline filter yet?

My main concern before I bought a chugger was grain sediment gumming up my cheaper pumps. So I planned to use this along with a false bottom to keep as much of the sediment/grains from getting into the pump. Not as much a concern with a chugger, but thought it would just augment the false bottoms.

Unorthodox Herm's - opinions and advice welcome

Update: full test run attempted. No boil. Couple of issues, even converted to 240v to both sets of coils, and I could not get above 203°F. I tried to insulate the keggle as much as possible but I just couldn't get the boil. I believe burners just are not powerful enough. I went to home despot...

Has anyone tried this Duda Y Inline filter yet?

I ran across these on eBay recently and picked up a couple. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H9XWUCC/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I haven't brewed with them yet since I'm still tweaking my HERMs build before it's maiden brew. I haven't seen any reviews of chatter anywhere that I could find so I...

Unorthodox Herm's - opinions and advice welcome

Another thing, I thought about going with more conventional elements, mounted inside towards the bottom, but I'm not sure if they will work with this kind if control unit, which were designed to be used with these type of elements.

Thanks for taking a look. The heating elements are waterproof, tested and restested. I also was skeptical about the rod length protuding above the potential water line, but they are good, heated for over 3 hours with no ill affects. I know what you mean about the spade connectors, I deep sixed...

Unorthodox Herm's - opinions and advice welcome

Hi Brew Heads! So about 7 months ago, equipped with a shoe string budget I began the conversion to a Herm's rig. I acquired 3 kegs, converted them to keggles and did some various polishing efforts on all 3. So for the HLT, I used sharkbite connections to get my coil connected to the walls of...

    March AC-1C-MD food garde?

My homebrew system is going through upgrades. Part of the new design involves two foodgrade pumps. I know chuggers are the way to go, at about $145 a pop. The upgrades costs are going ballistic, especially with notions of a Hosehead eherms. I found a similar pump made by March, model# AC-1C-MD...

March Pump: Is this a good one?

I'm looking to upgrade my brewery a bit. Getting two or three chuggers is the way to go, but with all the upgrades I plan on getting (eherms) I sure would like to know if these AC-1C-MD's are food grade or not. The temp rating is 100c, good enough for mash recirculation and infusions. The price...
