    How to start making mead

I asked ai and idk how accurate this would be so im open to suggestions. But here is the recipe it gave me: This is a 5-gallon traditional mead recipe targeting a medium-sweet mead (~12% ABV) with 12 lb honey, ~4.5 gallons water, Lalvin D-47 or 71B yeast, and a nutrient schedule, fermented in a...

Would roasting the grains help flavor?

By I made a beer i mean I made a decent beer and I loved the taste but I think a deeper flavor would help it like if I toasted the grains??

And say I wanted to add POM juice as well. Idk if that's a thing with mead but I love POM. Anyways whatever advice...

    Is this grain milled enough?

Update: I took my grain to a local milling company, maltwerks, and they improved it significantly. Picture below. I did say around .28" fineness and this is what I got

    When to add flaked corn?

Do I add it when I add the grains? Can I put it in a bag? I assume you add it in the mash. But when to add it is my question

    When to add wort chiller

Sorry your right. So really you add it when you turn off the heat source. If I'm adding corn sugar at the end of the boil how long do I let that go for before adding the wort chiller?

    Sparging with biab

I use a 42qt stainless steel pot to mash and boil. I want to sparge because it i think will lead to a better taste. Though honestly I have no idea. If it increases efficiency by even 5% though I think its worth adding it to the process. I'm planning on step mashing the grains in less water...

Would this work for step mashing?

I use a 42qt stainless steel pot. My theory is heat using the stove until temperature hits close and move over to the nuwave with the temp set at say 125. Let it hold for as long as needed then transfer back to the stove for heating to the next step. Idk if this would work im theorizing and I'm...

    Sparging with biab

How do you sparge your grains? Especially if BIAB? Also assume i don't use tap water and instead have to use filtered water. So what equipment would you use to sparge? I was going to use my siphon and fill an extra carboy with the water I need (say 4.25 gallons) and rinse the grains... but I...
