Founders Curmudgeon Better Half (Old Ale) clone recipe

Don't worry either am I!!! Yea I am worried that soaking the oak chips in the maple syrup will ferment out in the secondary

Founders Curmudgeon Better Half (Old Ale) clone recipe

Founders Curmudgeon Better Half (Old Ale) clone recipe

Yea my dad and I love better half. There is a website in Europe I can get it from for £2.50 a bottle so I might stock up on it. I imagine it will age well! Such a shame there aren't more old ales about.

Founders Curmudgeon Better Half (Old Ale) clone recipe

Can't believe that recipe was posted by Jeremy. I am surprised that there are only four malts in this. I had thought there might be another crystal and or maybe biscuit malt

Founders Curmudgeon Better Half (Old Ale) clone recipe

Yea I don't have a barrel. What I have been doing for the last two months is soaking oak chips in maple syrup. When I brew the beer I will take the chips out of the maple syrup and soak them in bourbon and see if that works.

Founders Curmudgeon Better Half (Old Ale) clone recipe

Hi all, trying to get a recipe to brew a clone of this beer for my fathers birthday but I am struggling. Does anyone have any idea about the grain bill. Was thinking of maris otter, munich light, equal parts crystal 60L and 120L, and maybe some type of biscuit/honey malt? Also plan to add...

    Benefits of Double Dry Hopping

I was wondering today what the benefits of double dry hopping over single dry hopping are. I read about a beer by a UK brewery who have quadruple dry hopped with 35 grams per litre! I have an IPA which I plan on double dry hopping. The first charge of hops will be added just after...

    Best Hops for NEIPA

I am thinking of using 3 or 4 from the following: Citra Ekuanot El Dorado Vic Secret Galaxy Mosiac Simcoe Azacca Will likely brew two beers that day thinking of going for a NEIPA at around 6.5-7% and go for a real juice bomb with Ekuant, Azacca, El Dorado and Simcoe. The next one will be like...

    Best Hops for NEIPA

Citra seems to be one of the most popular from what I have read and seen on different beer ingredients

    Best Hops for NEIPA

Hi everyone, what are some of the best hops people have used for NEIPAs? I did one recently where I used mosiac, citra, galaxy and el dorado. I dry hopped for 5 days with 12.5grams per litre. I added some citra at 5mins during the boil and then all four of the hops at flamout. I was pretty...

    Any good Old Ale Recipes

Hi everyone. Hoping to make an old ale beer for my dad for his birthday. He is a big fan of Founders other half. Any suggestions on a recipe like this. I know founders use molasses in theirs. Thanks

Priming sugar amount for stout with a relatively high FG?

Did you have a high amount of lactose in the recipe or unfermentables? I did a stout with lactose and came out at 1.030 FG and primed it as normal with no bottle bombs. As long as it is finished fermenting you should be ok in my experience.
