    Some varieties slower than others?.....

    I've got just the opposite. I have 2 Cascades and 2 Nuggets. The Nuggets broke ground first, and are still ahead on growing height.

    My Nuggets took about 2.5 weeks to break ground, the Cascades about 3 weeks

    Greetings from SE Pennsylvania

    Greetings from the Philly Suburbs. Just joined, and just bottled my first batch. I've been into the craft beer scene for awhile, but finally took the leap to brew my own. I took the Intro Class at Keystone Homebrew, and have read How to Brew by Palmer. Good resources so far!

    Cleanin' Dem Bottles!

    I had read about using some baking soda in the water, that seemed to work for me. Although I discovered that not all brewery's bottle labels are created equal. Some just fell off - Victory, Yards, Southern Tier. And others had to be scrubbed - the worse were Great Divide and Smuttynose.
