Best gas grill for the money?

The new genesis model has front to back burners, and the knobs are on the front now so you don't loose the space on the sides. I went to a local specialty grill and fireplace shop, and they carried the EP model genesis. It was 50 bucks more than the E-310, but had stainless cooking grates...

    Oatmeal Stout Smooth Oatmeal Stout

To adjust for my efficiency numbers I have seen lately, I would need ot up it to about 8 lb pale malt. Would I need to mess with any of the specialty malts as well, or is the extra 1.25 lb base malt small enough of a different to not affect flavor or color?

Best gas grill for the money?

I was almost lured in by the shiny stainless steel siren call of the kitchenaid grill lowes is selling now, but luckily did some research before I committed and it looks to be all show with that one. Everywhere I look, it seems that weber is the end all be all of quality.

    German Pils Wheat Pilsner

For those looking for something to do with a can of coopers pilsner and no lagering equipment, here's what I did. In my opinion a nice, light, flavorful beer with a little bit more character from the wheat malt. 3.75 lb Coopers pilsener hopped LME 1 lb Pilsen light DME 1 lb Bavarian wheat...

Best gas grill for the money?

I wasn't going to post this on the BBQ forum, knowing the potential "grilling is not BBQ!" comments, but I see quite a few grill posts, so here we go. I am looking for a new gas grill to replace my BBQ grill ware that I was very lucky to get 4 solid years out of. I am looking to replace it...

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

I think the yeast packet just had "Lager Yeast" stamped on it. Not much more information. I felt a little more comfortable going with the S23. I have always had good luck with fermentis yeasts and it was pretty clear on the package about the acceptable temperature range. Bubbling away...

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

Brewed it today, we'll see how it goes! Followed my recipe above, except I added .5 oz Hallertau at 30 mins. A little bit of research turned up that the Coopers kits usually don't include much of a boil, so I added some at 30 mins to replace what I lost in a full hour of boiling the hopped...

Funny now. Not funny when it happened.

First time I used my IC, I just had a piece of vinyl tubing for the output. I was on my back porch, and draped the tubing off the end of the patio. It was summer, so I was brewing in bare feet. Turned on the water at the hose. Output tube went flying around, dousing my feet in...

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

So after my research and trip to LHBS, here is the recipe I'm going to attempt: 3.75 lb Cooper's Pilsener Hopped LME 1 lb Pilsen DME 1 lb Bavarian Wheat DME .25 oz Hallertau at flameout Saflager S-23 Ferment as low as I can keep it (maybe high 50's). I have never used a secondary and...

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

I do have a garage, but it was 16 in there this morning, and this weekend it is supposed to get up into the 50's. A little too much of a swing for me to be comfortable with. I might do some experiments with a swamp cooler in my basement this weekend and see how cool I can keep it. Like I...

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

That's what I am curious about. I'm not entering it in any contests, I just want to make sure it comes out drinkable and enjoyable.

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

That's the problem, I don't have facilities to keep anything at a constant 45 degrees for any amount of time. Is it worth it to just ferment and store as cool as I can get it (not much below 55 I'm sure) or to use the malt extract to just make something closer to a blond ale and use ale yeast...

    Pilsener with no Lager Equip?

My well meaning SIL bought be a Coopers Pilsener extract kit for christmas. Great gift, except I have no lagering equipment, not even a spare fridge. I think in my basement this time of year with a swamp cooler I can get fermentation down to an acceptable range, but after that I think I will...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

3 Weeks in the primary. Did a good job of cleaning up anything that resulted from the fermentation being at about 75 for the first few days. I used 1 Tbsp during the boil, and added another Tbsp at bottling (yes tablespoon). There was almost no flavor from the spices after the boil. What I...
