    Summer Ale with Fruit

Hello all, I am an extract brewer and would like a recommendation for a extract kit to which I could add cherries or another fruit. I would like an ale to avoid the lagering hassle and I was looking at the Aussie Light Ale http://www.midwestsupplies.com/aussie-light-ale.html from Midwest...

    What to Plant

Thanks for all your replies. I sure know more than I did. It looks like Cascade and Centennial. Jeff

    What to Plant

If I go with Centennial, then is Cascade out because they are so similar? Another factor in this is hardiness, we are often out of town during the summer and unable to water regularly. What about the timing, is it too late this year? Thanks again for the responses.

    What to Plant

No, I would not move to VT, but I would like to. SWMBO will be going to our small cabin there in a couple of weeks and we were thinking of planting them there also just because. I don't know if we would ever be able to harvest in the foreseeable future. Not sure what I would use the most...

    What to Plant

First, am I too late to plant in Virginia? How about Vermont? Second, If I were to plant only two varieties what would you suggest? I was thinking one bittering and one aroma, or maybe a coupe of varieties that could serve as either. I tend towards ales in the form of pale ales and stouts...

    Cherry Wheat Decision

I am a nOOb (as a matter of fact, I am such a NOOb that I don't even know what it means). I bought a cherry wheat kit from Midwest that calls for 4oz of cherry extract. A few months ago I made an apricot kit from Williams that used 4 oz of apricot extract and, while it is getting better, it...

    Dry Hopping in Primary

I just brewed a batch and I forgot to add finish hops at the last two minutes of the boil, as called for by the recipe. So, I added the hop pellets into the primary fermenter with the yeast. Any thoughts on how this may affect the beer with respect to the original recipe? Thank you, Jeff

    Fermenting: Odd behavior?

My first question is that it appeared to stop completely after only a few days. I thought that activity would gradually decrease to the point that, even 14 days later, there would be minor activity. My second question is its re-starting after I put it in the secondary. Thanks, Jeff

    Fermenting: Odd behavior?

I am getting back into this after a long time and have made seven batches in the last few months. Using Papazian (1991 ed), I made Toad Spit Stout following the recipe except 0.7 less pounds of malt extract and 1/4 pound more crystal malt. According to Papazian, the ending gravity should...
