I do 3 gallon batches all the time. I do my boiling on the kitchen stove and this is the most I can do indoors. I others have said I also like the fact that I can try different beers. And if I don't like one I haven't lost that much.
As for the 5 gal carboys you will be fine I use 3 BB and...
Hi
I have a Oktoberfest that I've had in the secondary for two months, I'm about ready to bottle it in a few weeks. My question is will I have to add any yeast for carbination or is there still enough active yeast to start carbing. I haven't left a beer this long in a secondary.
Thanks
I only do 3 gallon All-Grain brewing since I brew on the kitchen stove an its hard to make larger batches due to the amount of water needed for 5 gallon batches. As was said just scale the grains down and use the whole amount of yeast. With the smaller size of the batch I don't think you would...
In the Northern Brewer catalog that came with my last order it say Fawcett Optic Pale malt "Optic is a barley variety widely grown in the UK. We have been impressed with its highly aromatic qualities".
Craig,

I do 3 gallons batches, and I do this because I do full all grain boils and this is the largest I can do on my home stove and I don't want to boil outside. Now my question is if I want to go to kegging can I use 5 gallon kegs with only 3 gallons of beer or do I need to get 3 gallon kegs. :)...

You are correct they are lager beers with rice. I was looking at the Clone Brew book I have it it looks like most use 6 Row Malt but there are a few that use 2 Row British Lager Malt. Not sure how many people brew this type of beer which is way you can't find any. Hopefully someone...
You should never use a brush on the better bottles, use something like PPW let sit for 24 hrs then pour and rinse.
I'm not sure I would use the bottles with scratches in them.
I buy the things I need from HighGravityBrew.com. I have received my orders in two days, their prices are good and the one time there was a problem they took care of it right away.
I would think it's to early to worry. Having said that, those yeast packs are not the best so you might want to have a good yeast on hand in case you don't see some activity.
