im just wondering what people use for there calculator , with it being a app or site .. i been using Brewgr site but i end up with an extra .5 gal of wort all the time if i dont factor it in.. im just doing a single infusion / batch sparge with my brews!
im not asking if it hurt your head to read.. thats all the yeast i had on hand at the time and both were past expiration date .. all the rest of my rye are done with 05 yeast.. im wondering if one yeast took over the other yeast
i made a rye beer 2 mths ago and i used 2 kinds of dry yeast one was a Safale S-04 about a mth past exp date and the 2nd was Safbrew S-33 about 8 mth past exp date.. i ferment temp was about 64 f .. the beer caMe out great. my question is do you think one yeast took over the other in the ferment...
i do have to agree with you dmarc85 , im getting gallons of great beer as well :) . i just kegged a 5 gal batch tonight and took a sample of it the tast is good i followed the last recipe i did last time and pitch yest from a older slurry . i let this one go longer in the fermenter (3 weeks) do...
i used yeast from 2 widmer hef bottles along with a yeast starter (650 ml water to 1/2 cup of light dme boil for 10 mins then cool down and pitch your yeast from the widmer hef bottles) just be sure to keep everything sanitized when making the starter . oh i also used a lil bit of Wyeast...
alright report time.. this beer is tasting real good. i just tapped it . i dont think i will ever hit this clone spot on but i have to say this is close to it.. i think doing a lower sachh @ 149 help, along with cutting back on the 10 and 40 L ... :mug: im glad it came out good because i made...
i would have to say the yeast played a good part in it.. after i had one of my beers do that all i use is hose method tell it starts to slow down then i will put an airlock in.. my first was a wlp 400 yeast i used on a blue moon clone years ago. my most recent was a yeast i pulled from a bottle...
