I wouldve got back to this earlier but I haven't been getting updates on more replies so I didnt realize there were more.
Yeah, I know about the ABL and I've heard absolutely great things about the group. We're not forming this to butt heads in any way, and in fact it'd be great if there...
Sorry about that then, I didn't know what you were referencing and was more than a little confused.
To be honest, I thought you were calling me cheap (which as a college student I unfortunately am).
Anyways, didnt mean any disrespect. Just a bit to quick to the trigger some days
I would, but at the same time it was the bottom of the bag for some OneStep...maybe enough to make 7 gallons of sanitizing solution...Ive already bought it now, and I dont see a dollars worth of product being worth starting hostility over
huh? Is this supposed to be funny in some way that I'm just not getting or is this some sort of thinly veiled insult for no reason? either way, extremely mature for someone that has a lot of experience on a board...
right on, I just get antsy and like to get things moved around (and ready to drink ASAP!), but I dont have any bleach, so yeah I'll probably play it safe and wait
I want to bottle my wheat today, but my roommate threw away my sanitizing solution mix not knowing what it was. I'd get some more but Im on a college budget with 10 cents left in my account and dont get paid for a few days.
can I just use regular soap to clean my bottling bucket and be very...
right on, thanks for the advice guys...I usually try to do a full boil but with extract not all grain, theres just something about adding water to my delicious wort that seems strange to me. Ill probably just invest a little extra change out of my pocket and get something a little bigger then
I got a 50 dollar walmart giftcard for christmas and Ive been needing a brew kettle.

if not, does anyone have any suggestions?
Ingredients aren't really the problem. Its carboys that we don't have enough of, and we're a no dues club at the moment.
Some people are willing to buy their own carboy, but others don't want to get invested until they've tried it out already.
I'm the founder of Iowa State Homebrewers Association and we're recently looking into sponsorship. Our LHBS doesnt do enough business to be able to offer us much and the microbrewery has assisted in the form of a meeting place and guided tours.
I was wondering if anyone knows a good website...
I appreciate the advice. These are all things that me and the president have thought out in depth and for the most part have already taken care of.
We do have a dry campus so we plan to meet off campus at our local microbrewery Olde Main (if you're ever in the central Iowa area, I suggest you...
I'm getting the Iowa State club off the ground and the administration loves the idea, but they just want to protect themselves legally and find a precedent.
I know University of Colorado has a club and I'd heard the University of Madison Wisconsin had one too but I cant find confirmation...
Thanks for the advice. Can I ask why not to hydrate with a sucrose solution and what would be a good alternative? or should I just put the dry yeast in directly without messing with it
I was using a dry yeast and I dont believe it activated. Its 2 days after brewday and I see no activity in my airlock.
Is there any way to be sure? What can I do from here?
I tried to activate the yeast by boiling a cup of water and a tablespoon full of sugar and then introducing the yeast...
