    So who's brewing this weekend?

Holy schemoly; is this an old thread that just keeps going! I brewed this weekend; about 40F outside and 30mph winds... my 3rd batch and I decided to brew a Hefeweizen (my first brew without a kit). Everything that went right in the past, went wrong, and vice-versa. My scale didn't come in, so...

    valhalla's pride meadery

Liking them! Love the old-papyrus feel with the norse mythology. I'd, though, make the government warning less government and more tongue-in-cheek.

Using milk as an adhesive is not an option?

    1:30am; brewing done and goodnight

Well, my "simple" Hefeweizen took 8 hours to brew and rack to primary; lol. Everything that went wrong in the past, went right, and everything that went right in the past, went wrong... so an awesome learning experience and hopefully a good grew in the end. How long does everyone primary a...

    Did I pooch my aerator?

Nevermind... it's working; the aerator is just "weak" as I though it would be bubbling the wort in the primary, and not sorta kinda micro-bubbling a one-inch radius.

Knowing what you know now, what would you buy starting out?

I would fathom Hym is Hmm with his mouth open?

    Did I pooch my aerator?

So I got my aerator this week, and am using it now at 1:30am in the primary, and it seems to be doing nothing. If I take the end of the tubing off where it connects to the filter, I get air (albeit wussy psi, which is to be expected given the diameter of the tubing and the instructions that...

Knowing what you know now, what would you buy starting out?

Personally, I wouldn't go extract and all-grain 1:1; I'd start with extract, or at the most partial-mash, to dial in your process and get familiar. With all-grain, you will not have the benefit of making mistakes and allowing the extract to make up for it, as well as not needing to worry about...

    Red X-mas Ale or ??

Well, it's the pooping log... delivers candy as long as you beat the log and sing songs... seems to play well into a red ale.

So I just admitted to my wife...

Yes, that is very true and good advice. Being a good cook and baker, which I am praise for constantly, leads me to modifying recipes in any matter before trying the actual recipe as stated... that may be a bad thing when it comes to beer since I am a noob. Good idea to stick to recipe and...

12:15am and getting ready to put into primrary; lol

So for anyone who's been following my eclectic posts throughout the evening, it's now 12:15am and I'm near finished boiling the wort. I got my fish-tank aerator thingy this last week, and it said to boil for 15 minutes to sterilize... however the filter part got into the wort and I am...

    Steeping grains

Can you post the recipe you're going to brew? Steeping doesn't do anything diastaticly; it's only for flavor, body, etc. I see no harm in steeping, but I think seeing the recipe may prove helpful in answering your concerns (I have the book, but that would require me walking away from my...

Yow! OK, this is clearly infected, but it's kind of pretty at the same time.

Sour without trying; I think a sour pumpkin would be kickass. Don't toss it, and I don't think you will since you already sampled. Rack below, let it condition in whatever you rack to and enjoy a gold medal in a few months!
