Hello all,
Brewed up a Tripel on Sunday (all grain / 1 gallon). Used White Labs Belgian golden ale yeast, aerated carboy like normal.
Very active visible fermentation within 24 hours, and the action has already calmed down substantially. There is a ring of kreusan/foam around the carboy...
Thanks for the feedback.
I have no exact outcome in mind, just curious to see how different yeasts affect the same beer. Look forward to giving this a shot.
Hi everyone,
I'd like to brew a 5 gallon batch of IPA (recipe undetermined) and break it down into a few 1 gallon jugs to purely experiment with different yeasts.
Can I go crazy here in the name of experimentation? Will any yeast ferment any beer?
Thanks for everyone's feedback and input.
I ended up straining out the hop debris on this current batch. Will wait and see what the end result is like to determine future batches.
Hello everyone,
Just want to get some general feedback on everyone's process.
When pouring your wort into the primary fermentor, do you dump everything in, strain or hold back a bit so no sludge gets in?
On my last batch I dumped everything in and the beer turned out very good...
Thank you for the reassurance. You nailed it, it's an IPA :)
Do you have any idea what would cause this additional white-ish top layer to appear "out of nowhere" versus gradually building up? I also noticed new suspended white floaters in the solution. Those 2 together made me thiink it was...

Hi All,
I know there are 2541582 threads pertaining to cold crashing, but I wanted to post with my specific situation.
I have a 1 gallon GLASS carboy (primary fermentor) cold crashing in my fridge with the original S shaped airlock I used throughout the fermentation. The airlock has...
I was under the impression that the ONE GALLON letters on the carboy was the 1 gallon point (maybe im wrong) and that i lost a lot of liquid in the previous steps. The wort is under the letters. I had no issues with blowout.
Hello everyone,
I am currently fermenting a 1 gallon (all grain) homebrew. Upon pouring in my wort, I was about an inch shy of the ONE GALLON marker on the carboy. I could have topped it off with water, but I decided to let it be and not dilute it.
The recipe calls for carbonation...
