Wow, only 21 views and no replies. Anybody have any suggestions?
I could just use 6lbs of the light LME and no adjunct or carapils....anybody ever brewed a straight bill like that? I'm afraid it might be too boring (as if the style isn't already!).
I'm trying to finalize the list for a light american lager I want to brew this weekend, but am having a hard time with the rice...My local homebrew shop doesn't have the rice syrup that the recipe I found calls for, but does stock flaked rice. I will be partial-mashing 8oz of carapils, and am...
Generally, yes. But if it's due to high levels of proteins, it'll be crystal clear going into fermenter and then still hazy as heck after fermentation, crash cooling for months at a time, etc.
x2! These are VERY important questions that all too often neglected on this and other forums. I've fought this issue, and it was the malt all along (nobody sugested that in my cry for help threads, but Menschmaschine steered me in the right direction - THANKS BTW)!
To fix my chill haze...
Could be high protein malt. I had a 55# bag that every batch I made with this as the base, was chill hazed. The last batch of the 55# bag was clear, after trying EVERYTHING mentioned above and then some.
What fixed mine was actually lowering the protein level of the total grist. Some malts...
I am brewing a California Common tomorrow, and using plain RO water. Any ideas for my brewing salt additions??? From designing great beers, my goal profile is:
Calcium: 36ppm
Magnesium: 25ppm
Sodium: 17ppm
Carbonate: 80ppm
Chloride: 26ppm
Sulfate: 20ppm
So it's rather plain/soft...
PLEASE LEAVE THIS IN THIS FORUM! :)
I just finished my stir-plate...I will be using a 1000mL flask and a 1" stir-bar. Now I didn't have a hard drive magnet to use on the PC fan inside, so I bought some rare earth magnets from Radio Shack (little ones, 4 total). They are crazy strong, and I...
Any pics of your magnets so I can get an idea what the spacing should be? I played with them for hours trying to get a vortex, and no luck. I've got them within just a few mm of the top of the enclosure, and that made all the difference in the world, but it's still not enough I guess. The bar...
This isn't about the build, so why DIY?? It's about what yeast need to propagate properly and the amount of O2 needed for them to do so. Please move it back to the other forum. The "gurus" of starters don't spend all their time in the DIY forum, they are in the tech forums. Thanks. Edit my...

In my years of hiring/firing, I found that the employees who are happy with their position with the company and typically stick around relatively "long term", are needed AND wanted. Just being needed doesn't mean you'll be happy with a position.
Either use the spray bottle method as mentioned above, or fill it to the top with water. Pressurize, and turn it upside down. With the water on the "top" now, and the keg pressurized you should able to see quickly where the water is leaking from. Where water leaks when the keg is upside down...
I made it and liked it pretty well. I appreciate the complexity of his hop schedule, as opposed to using all cascade for aroma or all centennial like many recipes I see floating around do. I mashed on the warm side (153-154º) to try and give it a bit more dextrinous wort that I always look for...
