Just harvested a starter of Wyeast 1450 Denny's and it smelled lovely and yeasty but had a definite butterscotch flavour.
Will the yeast be fine? Or has it been spoiled?
Ive just started kegging and when cleaning a keg to be filled It came up with a metallic smell as soon as i put starsan in it.
The kegs were refurbished from lhbs but apparently not cleanded thoroughly.
I cleaned them with really hot (basically boiling) water and dishwashing machine powder...
Yeah. Thats what I was thinking.
That thermometer is now in the bin anyway. I kinda broke it.....
From now on there will be starters and a much better thermometer.

Hi. I have a stout thats been in primary for nearly 2 weeks.
The SG has been sitting at 1.024 for the last few days. I was expecting it to reach 1.015ish.
The recipe was
3.5kg marris otter
340g med crystal
340g choc malt
300g carapils
250g flaked oats
120g roasted barley
Mashed at...
Looking at brewing this tomorrow.
What do people think?
7.3lb pale malt

.75lb med crystal
10.5oz carapils
8.8oz flaked oats
4.25oz roasted barley
1.35oz fuggles (60 min)
Wyeast london ale yeast #1028
