    Crude Brew

Not if you want to get a clear brew... if you boil the spuds they will turn to mush! Even if you put into a muslin bag and squeeze the crap out of it you will still lose about 1/5th of you total volume of water! I've made it twice, the first time i just used the oldest "seed" potatoes i could...

Belgian Candy Syrup and Candi Sugar

You can take your white rocks, dissolve in a little water and then allow to caramalize a little.

Belgian Candy Syrup and Candi Sugar

I've used white and dark candi before and the difference between the two is caramelization, the dark has a nutty, treacly flavour. So i would assume that the difference is a slight caramelization on the amber.

    Advice request on first All-Grain

It's been carbing for a week... i had the first pint straight from my bottling bucket, the second 6 days after carbing. It's fsking good! The only reason this hoppy wit monster will last 2 weeks is it's my primary takealong to a BBQ in 2 weeks time! So... yeah, it turned out really really well.

I've done Belgians I like. Need ideas for my next recipe

Take a look at this recipe... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/advice-request-first-all-grain-220572/ It's a Wit hop bomb... i could have drunk it straight out of the primary, flat and warm (well... i had a pint left over after bottling so i did just that!). Tried a bottle last night to check...

Does your SO support your brewing?

The missus hates the smell, is jelous of the time I spend on my hobby rather than on her, doesn't drink much herself and very rarely beer and generally dislikes anything I do which could be considered bad for me! But as I already gave up smoking I told her to deal with it! =) Saying that her...

    Oh gosh...biggest noob mistake ever.

I'm meant to boil the sugar before adding for bottling??!!?? Heh... yeah, haven't ever done that 6 batches and no bottle bombs. =) Don't worry!

Help! Accidentally added too much hops, boiling now...

=) Let it ride... just bottled a belgian wit with insane amounts of hops in it. Tastes pretty good so i'm sure your lil overage won't hurt much!

Critique request for a 1st recipe development

Ok, so after a little hop research i'm going to drop the northern brewer in favour of Cascade as the flowery spicy citrus notes might better offset the sweetness of the mango and the coriander will probably add bitterness anyways. I'm also thinking of adding the coriander and mango as a tea...

Critique request for a 1st recipe development

So... i've recently done my first all grain, and 3 extract clones. Been talking to SWIMBO and have come up with the notion that I would rather like to make an all grain Coriander (Cilantro) and Mango IIPA (I know adding the coriander and mango makes it technically not an IIPA... but brollocks to...
