    iron bacteria in water

    Reviving an old thread. I also have an iron bacteria problem in my well. My RO took care of the drinking water but the non-treated water was so infected that I couldn't sanitize consistently and I had a couple of infected batches. Shock chlorinated well and house. Hopefully that has fixed...

    disfunctional quick disconnect?

    I have the same problem. I think I mixed up the seals between my 3 disconnects which I had apart at the time. I haven't had the time to change them around and get the right combo to see if this is the problem.

    S-04 - Not liking this yeast

    Used it in an ESB and a IPA. The ESB is cloudy and the IPA took 36+ hours to start. Both were very near the expiration date. I like Wyeast 1028 or 1968 better. The 04 is 1/3 the price though.

    Ok, I'm not just being paranoid about infections...

    I'm so paranoid that I have house-borne nasties floating around that I'm having my forced air furnace and ducts cleaned and sanitized. I hope that solves my persistent infection problems. (or, maybe it's just that I'm dirty)

    I too have had a persistent infection problem. I spoiled batch after batch (probably 8). I tossed buckets, hose and siphons. I switched from diversol to OxiClean and StarSan. I soaked equipment in bleach then metabisulphite, I changed rooms and sprayed hands, counters and all surfaces with...
