So this might sound weird and newbish, but I want some help to classify this next brew.
If I had to take a guess, it would be a Scotch Ale but I want other's opinions to help me tell my testers (a.k.a. anyone that walks in my house) what style of beer it most resembles.
This is my...
The hoppier version you speak of is a lot like the batch I brewed, and am referencing in the original post.
It is new to me to have a wheat beer with no additional spices or flavors added.
I think the beer will completely change with the addition of the raspberry extract.
Thanks for the reply!
I'm not really concerned, because I'm adding raspberry flavoring, and the beer doesn't taste...bad...but it is just a general question I have...
What is your experience with wheat beers before adding flavoring? Does anyone like the flavor of unflavored, un-spiced wheat beers?
Like I said...
Okay, so....
I did a gravity reading and tasting tonight and the gravity is now down to 1.010. I will test it again tomorrow and if it drops below, then I will cold crash. so I can prevent the beer from being too dry.
The visible activity in the primary has slowed significantly since...
Thank you for the responses.
I think I will take another reading tonight and if it dropped to 1.010 or lower I may cold crash since I'm already passed my anticipated FG. Once I do that for 30-48 hours I'll move it to my secondary so I can get another beer going this weekend.
After all....I...
It is fermenting at about 67 degrees. I will let it go for a couple more days in hopes that it will slow down. I'm not opposed to letting it go longer, but I'm worried about the gravity getting too low and making it too dry.
I tasted it last night when I did my sample and it was delicious.... I...
Wyeast 1272 is making me nervous...
I brewed 9 days ago and the little guys are still going strong. I know not to trust the bubbles in the airlock, but I have to believe that when I can see currents IN THE BEER as it sits in the Primary, that it is still fermenting....
Just out of...
I'm getting equipment together do a kegerator buildout. I need kegs! Of course I can go to my LHBS, but I'd rather give the money to a fellow brewer that has extra kegs....that way they can go to the LHBS and buy ingredients to make another brew!(or 2...3....4...etc.)
I'm looking for 2, but...
I havent had any issues with collapse....at least i dont notice it. Even if it collapses, the runnings still make it through the braid and it still filters the runnings.
I like the copper coil idea though... Havent thought of that one yet.
You can get a stainless steel braided toilet supply line and cut off the ends, push out the hose, and then you have a filter that works really well. Same concept as the bazooka tube, but about $10 cheaper. Attach that to your valve, crimp the other end, & you're golden.
It looks like the little guys just woke up for a little snack when I transferred to the secondary. The layer of foam has dropped significantly in the last 18-20 hours and the beer still smells like beer, so I'm pretty sure I didn't get an infection.
That is why I ask! Another person's point of view is always nice to have because I haven't thought about those points you have made.
With #1 I think that using a small like 80mm fan on a rheostat might work, but it would take a really long time to get the optimal air movment...which in the...
