Autumn Seasonal Beer Lady Rumpkin Pumpkin Rum Ale

I brewed this last Saturday and everything went great! 1.100 OG. Huge pumpkin flavor even without the spice in the hydrometer sample. But i wonder how much of that will last? I have the spice mix in 6oz of rum. I want some rum flavor but not over the top. Although the spices aren't dissolving...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Lady Rumpkin Pumpkin Rum Ale

Getting ready to brew this next weekend. 2 months before Halloween. I'll keg it. I wonder how it will taste by Halloween? Maybe I'll bottle a few bombers so I can check on aging so I can plan better for next year. I have never toasted grains before. Do I need to toast the Maris Otter whole or...

    Wyeast didn't inflate! (schwarzbier)

Revvy - what I'm wondering is - I smacked but nothing happened so I'm worried that package might be dead / bad? Yooper - do you think I should get a few more packs anyway? Otherwise attenuation and acetaldehyde problems? This is my first lager...

    Wyeast didn't inflate! (schwarzbier)

Today I brewed a schwarzbier, OG 1.048. I bought two packets of yeast because I haven't gotten to making starters. It's currently in the fridge cooling down to 45F The back of the Wyeast package says that one is good for a 1.060 beer but in the brew strong podcasts they seem to say 1 package...

Ok to Keg 2.5g in a 5g Corny?

Hey, I have 2.5 gallons of cider I'd like to keg up. Anything I need to keep in mind or do different with so much more headspace? Should the pressure be changed? Typically my process is to set at 10 psi and wait for a week. With more headspace does the time to carb change? Thanks!

    How Long to dry hop?

I dry hopped a pale ale last night with 1.5 oz of Glacier. I also had a keg open up last night! Do I need to wait a week to rack over to the keg or would 24 hours be enough time before racking out of secondary? I guess I'm unsure if the hops dissolving is what I'm looking for to get the...

Keg Leaking through the gas release valve

Hi, When I turn the gas on to my keg I get bubbles coming out of my gas release valve on the top of the keg lid. I unscrewed the valve and put it back in and I even went a exchanged for another used lid. I replaced the gasket and it is still leaking there. What else can i do? What am I...

5 days in. Been sitting at 62F. I'll transfer to a keg in two days (people have been doing 7 days on the berries right?). Looking good!

    pH meter storage

I have the Hanna Checker 1 pH meter. I didn't have any storage solution to drop into the cap of the probe so I stored it 4.01 solution. I turned it on after not using it for a week and it was reading 4.78! I have little experience with pH so what I'm wondering, is the prode already wrong...

    Fruit Beer Requiem Raspberry

Well, i decided to risk it. On Brew Strong Jamil says the alcohol content should be enough to over power the bac and yeast. Although proof in this tread shows that is not always the case, so we'll see what happens. I was two points off on the FG i wanted which I'm happy enough with. Once the...

    Fruit Beer Requiem Raspberry

I'm going to rack onto the raspberries tonight. I have 40 oz of frozen berries. I was thinking of racking onto the frozen berries so any yeast/bac won't be able to grow on the berries before the alcohol and brewers yeast get them. Is this a bad idea? Should I thaw first? Also there will...

    Nottingham Question

Good thing I went with the blow off tube! Should I clean the water or anything or just leave her be?

    Nottingham Question

I'm using Nottingham for the first time. The Original Gravity is 1.060 Due to the size of the fridge I'm currently using I had to use a 5 gallon glass carboy (which must really be 5.5 gallons?) So there is some headspace but it is full up to the point that the carboy starts to curve up...
